Rudy Gobert "Greatest Jazz Center of All Time" Countdown Thread

However, I think the strategy for DL might be to a) offer Kanter a Favors-type deal at 12:00.01 on July 1st, with a very short window to accept (as in hours) or b) bemoan the fact the Jazz tried to reach a deal and believe they'll have to let him go.

What's the advantage of letting a team know you're going to match? . Saying the Jazz would match any offer for Hayward certainly didn't discourage Charlotte. And who knows...maybe had they thought $13M would be too high for Utah, the offer sheet would have been less. Saying you're going to match just means a team knows they'll have to significantly overpay if they have any chance of making you reconsider and decide to let that player go. If Kanter doesn't get an offer, then negotiations still have to be done and can still get nasty. Kanter and his agent could simply say Enes is going to play for the QO of $7.4M and become a free agent in 2016. In fact, if I were Enes, I might do that anyway. Cap is skyrocketing and most every team would be able to make a big offer for Kanter. If he keeps improving, he stands to gain a TON of money by waiting. Demand the max or just play for the QO and take out an insurance policy in case of injury (should have gone to law school...I would have been one hell of an agent!).

Sometimes I think I'm reading the writings of an insane person talking to themselves. This is one of those times.

#24 Archie Moses

Points 1 (One real cute kid)
Rebounds 2 (One for each knee surgery--way to bounce back, kid)
Blocks 17 (if you've been to a bar with him,you know he's a cockblocker and a half)
Steals 6 (Stolen a few ladies' hearts before)
Assists 37 (a cockblocker yes, but he's an even better wingman)
Months Lifting 5 (check out his guns yo)

Creepy Uncle Wes strikes again.

Which part?
Monroe decided to go the QO route because Detroit wanted to underpay him (or so he perceived). The same nearly happened with Bledsoe.

AS for publicly stating you're going to match any offer, did it work in Hayward's case? Nope. And it may very well have backfired. Perhaps it worked in Bledsoe's case to discourage other teams from making an offer. But then Phoenix and Bledsoe and his agent got into a rather nasty back and forth. much of which played out in the media. Bledsoe threatened to play for the QO and Phoenix ended up paying him a lot of money anyway.

The part where you're acting like you would be a great agent for Enes Kanter in a thread about Rudy Gobert. Also the part where you think you'd be a good agent.

Post #126: framer derails the thread by posting about Kanter and his upcoming free agency. I replied to that. Yes, let me also add I could probably outshoot Burke too. Jazz should sign me to a vet minimum contract.

SARCASM ALERT! SARCASM ALERT!

But really, I can shoot 1/3 on my 3's. No pressure you say? There certainly was. If one of my girls made a layup, I had to shoot a 3. Every time I missed, I had to run a lap. If the girl missed a layup, she had to run.

#24 Neal Walk

Points 366
Rebounds 262
Blocks 20
Steals 30
Assists 101

So Neal Walk was the #2 pick in the 1969 draft. He turned out to be a decent player, but Phoenix had to settle for the #2 pick after they lost a coin flip and watched Milwaukee snag college phenom Lew Alcindor. He played 1 season for the New Orleans Jazz in 74-75 and averaged 10 and 7 before being moved on the New York Knicks. He played 8 years in the NBA. In 1988 Walk was discovered to have a tumor enveloping his spine and surgery to remove it left him in a wheelchair. He used this as an opportunity and played in the National Wheelchair Basketball Association. In 1990, Walk was awarded "National Wheelchair Athlete of the Year" by George HW Bush. He currently works in the Phoenix Suns archive department, and gives motivational speeches to young people about overcoming adversity.

Never heard of him, but what an inspirational story. Horrible thing to happen physically, but he turns that into a positive and is helping others. And kudos to the Suns for finding a spot for him in the organization.

I've said it before framer, but many thanks. The thread would be fun with just a list of fantasy points. But what really takes it to another level is the background you post for each player.

Might have to transfer the old Larry Sanders caps lock/exclamation point treatment to Gobert.

It's happening.
