Can we connect Rudy Gobert with Alex Rodriguez or Lance Armstrong?20 pounds of good weight takes a lifetime of work. A dedicated bodybuilder would still need half a decade or more to build 20 pounds of muscle.

Yeah, this is the only real answer. The Jazz need another versatile scorer, not a specialist.I think our defense is still good. chris paul making lots of mid range hurt us alot. I think we just need another scorer that can help mitchell. with that, we will contend

Theory: The rating could be higher because he's facing better teams on the regular who scout for us. His reg. season numbers can look better because they include far inferior opponents.
Where exactly, in my post, did I suggest it was simple? It’s obviously more complex than the original poster mentioned...

Winning a championship is a multi-year effort. It took that Stockton-Malone team eleven or so years to have a shot at it.
Yeah I didn’t want to argue so I threw out a year... it’s obviously more complex than the original poster mentioned but the more I’ve learned about lifting and such the more these reports that “so and such added 15 lbs of muscle in the offseason” make me laugh.
I made a thread about this a long time ago, linking to studies that measure rate of muscle growth and such. It was a response to reports that Burks added 10 pounds of muscle between end of season and summer league. That's 5 pounds of muscles per month. Did he have them surgically implanted? Only way that'd be possible.
Lol, I'm perfectly calm. I find it a bit funny that you'd assume I'm mad because we're having this nice, polite debate on the internet.Calm down... you simplified it to adding 20 lbs of muscle... didn’t say you didn’t know the other steps. I just don’t think that kind of muscle gain now or over 3-4 years is a good idea. Duncan actually skimmed down quite a bit towards the end of his career to help him stay on the court. Today’s game is different and these guys have to be mindful of the stress they put on their knees and feet.
I also don’t think the Stockton and Malone method of team building will work in this era because of salary cap and contract nuances.

Anyway, the Stockton-Malone part of my statement was about time, nothing else. Over five years, I'm sure Gobert could put on a few pounds. I modified it to ten, by the way, to match Olajuwon. And frankly, just the weight can help, even if it's not all muscle.
One thing I remember very clearly about that old Jazz team is that after '93 or '94, I thought the they had lost their chance to contend. Stockton and Malone were both past their primes, after all. Everyone seems to think this current team needs to contend next year or the next, but history tells me it can be a longer struggle and that we're never really out of it -- as long as we're healthy and keep improving.
Yeah, all of that is true. Another thing I'd add is learning how to fake and pay attention to what his defender does. There is no reason Capella, as great as he is, should be able to block Gobert unless he's doing something very predictable.I also laugh when people say they lost 10 lbs last week... you lost maybe 3 lbs of fat, the rest is water, glycogen, and muscle.
Body composition changes are slow. I’d like to see Rudy get stronger in the lower body, but it isn’t something I’d consume his summer with. Work more on catching the ball and finishing. Strength is part of that... I know.
A lot of that is probably going from the end weight of the season to then. Players lose like 5-10 lbs of weight during the season, then they add it back on in the off-season

Yesterday he faked and it let Clint recover... once he gets his body into the guy he needs to go right up hard... may miss but more likely to draw a foul.
Guess I missed that play. He hesitates, but I don't recall ever seeing him fake. But perhaps he's not quick enough. He'll never be Hakeem.Yesterday he faked and it let Clint recover... once he gets his body into the guy he needs to go right up hard... may miss but more likely to draw a foul.
I’d also add just a set 15-18 footer... when they back off and drop the big I wouldn’t mind him taking one or two of those a game to lift the big up as he screens. Prefer it be later in the shot clock.
