Rudy should be frontrunner for DPOTY right?

I know ESPN did a poll with about 50 of the actual voters at the all-star break and Gobert came in 2nd behind Green.

He's going to have to kill someone before they give him the respect he deserves. Not a single more impactful defender in the game. The fact that his offensive game is now showing exponential growth is amazing. His hands are better. His pick and roll is better. His passing is better. And his decision making is better. Legit effing franchise player. Imagine if he's a 20/10 player next year. . . monster.

I skeptical but I'm not really going to doubt what Gobert can accomplish.
 
With spacing and ball movement Gobert could get close to 20ppg. Cue comment about Favors/playing with another traditional big.
 
I said this in another thread, but since this is the main one, here it is again:

Kawhi is going to win DPOY as a consolation prize in the MVP race. Book it. (And Kawhi is a better defender than Green, so...)

I think Green wins it with Leonard 2nd and Gobert 3rd. Gobert gets pissed, tweets about it and comes back even better.

The quality of his hook/push shot would have to greatly improve. Yes, he can flat out dominate teams with no interior defensive presence just through shear will, spacing, and ball movement, but to average 20 he has to have some kind of consistent scoring mechanism that isn't a dunk.

If that's the case NBA awards are a complete joke and they are proving it's just a popularity contest. There is no statistical argument for Kawhi to win DPOTY this year. At all. He doesn't even come close to Draymond's numbers this year much less Rudy's.
 
If he can average 2.3 dick kicks/game, Rudy is a lock for DPOY. No question.

Then any argument that's ever been given for DeAndre Jordan (as a defender or as an All-Star) must drive you crazy.

All star is different, it's a beauty contest after all, so stats are less meaningful to me.

The offensive skill I would love to see developed more than others would be Kevin Love-style outlet passes. Can you imagine seeing Gobert dominate the defensive side of the ball and then throw those passes down court like that? It would give me the chills every ****ing time.

Gobert has to get better, and he will. But bear in mind the force Dwight Howard was with very little skill as well.

Yeah, but Van Gundy also made it a point to give him a pretty healthy amount of post touches. I dont think Quin is ever going to do that with Rudy

If awards were just given to the players with the best stats then there would be no point in voting. Everyone is aware of the "popularity contest" to an extent. These things are just for fun at the end of the day.

Yeah, cuz Dwight is and always has been a bitch. Gobert doesn't need and I don't think wants post touches.
