What's new

Rumor I heard about DWill

Deron's not coming back...but I sure wish he was on the team for the last 14 seconds of OT vs. the Lakers. The Jazz have nobody that can win a game with seconds remaining on the clock...Gordon Hayward? C'mon, was that the best we could do.

Yeah, but we looked like good sports while losing. That's all that matters.

No I just wish he directed it better. What good is that desire and fire if he cannot control it?

I think I get what you're saying. Passion is something that people should be able to switch on/off as if they had a switch.

I don't see it that way at all. Last year Deron was in a position of watching his playoff team turn into a team that just wasn't very good. That put him in a situation where he had to try everything he could to try to win. Nothing worked, and obviously he got extremely frustrated. People want to hate him for his attitude, but I doubt Jazz fans would be happy with a Carmelo type player who is always smiling, win or lose. That attitude that Deron has, is the very reason he was, and still is one of my favorite players. Dude has an absolute fire inside him that I wish all of our players had. I want my guys to hate losing with a passion like Deron does. Even if he ends up looking like an *** at times, at least you always know how much he cares about winning.
I love you.

Although if he were to come back, you'd certainly hope he'd put a little more effort into taking some of the edge off the negativity. I really don't think the Jazz would want him back unless they believed he would take things a tad more in stride (compared to last season, anyway).

I find it funny that you guys follow Eric Pincus at times.. Yet support these best buy jokes... I dont get it. Never have. Never will.

Would it be crazy if Deron came back? Absolutely not. Deron has the talent to be the guy to take over games at the end. The Jazz have the talent to make him win, even win title. Look at Cliff Lee. Philly traded him, and he was pissed. Philly claimed he wanted too much money, Lee claimed that was lies. Lee came back.

All of that being said, I don't see how he doesn't end up in Dallas. It's a smaller town feel, with big town amenities, with Mark Cuban. There isn't a hard cap, so if Cuban can get Deron, he will spend to bring in other players. Dallas is the new LA/USC/Yankees. I expect them to be good forever.

I ran into D-Will at Best Buy's on Route 22 in Kenilworth, New Jersey. He told me Jazz fans from Utah creep him the **** out. They remind him of girls who obsess over guys they broke up with in high school - because they're certain if they can just get one more chance they could change him into the person he should be. They should all get a life because he's never coming back. Never, ever, ever, never.

Did he really say 'never' twice, both at the beginning AND the end of his last sentence? If so, then he ain't coming back folks.

No not really what I am saying. I want the Jazz to go out there and fight claw and take every game. Do anything legal to win.

Example: Deron throwing the ball at Hayward (pass my white butt) on the court and yelling at him during the game. I dont mind an annoyed look on his face or some attitude. What he should have done is at the next time out pull Hayward aside and been like "Look, I HATE to lose and I will do anything to win. So here is what i want you to do. next time in that set up I want you to cut to the hoop like your *** is on fire. You just be ready to catch than damn ball everytime because if I can get it to you I will. If I get you that ball then I want you to slam that thing home as hard as you can. I want to crush these guys and you are going to help me do it."

Deron directs his passions and burning desire to win. He adds Hayward as a kind of co -conspirator and adds to the kids confidence because he knows that Dwill has his back.

My perception of him hasn't changed -- I honestly think he wants to win more than most players in the league. Some guys just hope it happens, Deron is desperate for a title. I really love the dude.

Couldn't agree more. Very few players have that.

The grass is always greener on the other side, Deron. Though if we signed him back, that'd be awesome. Think of the team we'd have - and who knows who our GSW pick will bring?

Granted it won't happen, but since we're all here fantasizing about it, let's figure out how we could even do this. First off, let's assume that Mrs. DWill runs the show and says she wants to return to Zion; what do we (KOC) have to do to be able to make an offer to Deron? I'm not sure "the max" that could be offered him by a team not named NJ, but I'd assume it'd be between $18MM & $20MM, so we'd have to amnesty somebody (Harris & Al make the most, so I'd assume it'd be one of them two). If we could do Harris that would probably be preferable.

Anyways, if someone has a more logical scenario or wants to make corrections to mine, feel free.

I think some new CBA information is still yet to be known.

But shooting from the hip here, they'd HAVE to get rid of Harris one way or another (he wouldn't be needed and that salary would be very useful), Howard's 3m will be coming off, and the cap will be frozen before it drops. However, I think the new max (significantly less, especially since the Jazz wouldn't have Bird Rights and couldn't pay him as much as whoever will have them) would be in play. Jefferson would probably have to go, too, but maybe not.

I think in context of salary, it is very doable.

Where's Darkwing Duck?

I'd assume it'd be between $18MM & $20MM

Per ESPN, the new CBA allows for a max of 30% of the cap for players with 7-9 years. I don't know next year's cap, but assuming it's $60.3mm (4% raise over this season) then Jazz would need $18.1 to offer him max. They would be pushing the line after amnestying Harris (8.5mm), renouncing rights to all FA's, and giving up the TPE.
