Rumor: Jazz and DeMarcus Cousins

Detroit took a chance on Rasheed and it turned out pretty. This board loves to pretend that we are trying to be that Detroit team. In order for us to get a player good enough to win a title we either have to go full 76ers and lose for the next 5 years or take a chance on a questionable guy ala Detroit.

I have two questions. 1) Would he resign in two years when his contract is up? 2) would we be serious contenders now?

I think the answer to the 2nd question might be yes.
If that's the case, then I think the answer to the first question is yes.

I think if sactown is looking to trade him then the jazz should be trying to acquire him.

The way I look at it: If two of the most distracting, immature, head cases in NBA history (Dennis Rodman & Rasheed Wallace) could play major roles in helping their teams win championships...why can't Cousins do the same for us? Rodman was out gambling/drinking in Vegas the night before an NBA Finals game, banging Madonna and Carmen Electra, and galavanting in women's wedding dresses...Rasheed Wallace holds the NBA record for most technical fouls in a single season (TWICE!). These two guys make Cousins look like a saint...

i think the fact there were very strong clear leaders on those teams that those guys knew they had to perform for made those situations work. If Cousins came here, he'd be seen to be one of the more experienced/leader types on the team .. welp

Wrong. Wouldn't Hayward be making more money? Then you add in Hill and Johnson. Part of what makes Cousins so interesting is Hill and Johnson. This is a situation where Cousins can just show up, ball and go home. No one expects anything from his (not even defense)other than showing up, scoring 25, and going home. It's a great situation for him. Then, you hope that he catches the winning spirit and actually gives you some defense and team camaraderie...if that happens, then you now have a top 5 player in the NBA.

Now, you can go toe to toe with LeBron and Kyrie.

Now, you match up great vs Gasol, Leonard and Aldridge.

Now, you have a shot vs Curry, Thompson and Durant.

If you can get Cousins, it's a no brainer. You get him.

Joe Johnson given what will probably be 20-25 mpg won't be a leader. And given Haywards far less vocal personality i think it's pretty reasonable to say Cousins would see himself as a leader. I'm talking about strong/forceful personalities on a team.

Agree to disagree then. If you add Cousins to the team, suddenly Johnson and Hill are playing on the most talented teams they have ever been on and have legit shots at a title. I think they would step up to get that ring.

no doubt would be an awesome team on paper. i just have reservations of how the personalities would play out .. you might be right but it would sure be a risk

If the Jazz acquired Cousins I would miraculously stop hating him and start loving him.

He has the tools and the talent. If anybody could coax the mental part out of him it would be someone like Quin Snyder/Brad Stevens I believe.

This is awesome. UK fans ALL loved/loves Cousins. All other fans (all of them) hated him.
