Rumor: Ronnie Turiaf in SLC

I would like Turiaf. Tough player who protects the basket. What we need, plus he knows LA and wouldn't be intimidated by them.

Well the only way we get Turiaf in a Jazz uni next season would have to be having Ronny Turiaf being waived by New York because he can not be traded after being involved in a trade recently.

Having said that I would love to see him in a Jazz uniform because he would add some more nastiness in the paint!

Turiaf is a good energy guy who can rebound, block some shots, and can play pretty good defense. But doesn't he make over 4 million a season? I wonder what the Knicks want for him?

Is Turiaf >>> Jeffers?

If the Millers want to spend more money, then that's the key question. Do you want Jeffers and Gaines filling out the roster or can you get better players? Getting Turiaf would mean Memo doesn't have to be rushed back. Turiaf and Fes could get the mins behind Jefferson and Millsap. And having Jefferson and Turiaf on the court together might be nasty. Now there's a lineup I want to see: Jefferson, Turiaf, AK, Bell and Deron.

NY only has that young Russian center coming over. I wonder if the Jazz might deal the trade exception + Fesenko for Turiaf and something else.

Our problem with that roster is that our tallest player is 6'10".

I presented a trade on here a while back that had AK going to NYK and Chandler, Turiaf, and Curry coming back. I know that the Curry part is unattractive, but gives us Chandler and Turiaf and that makes us legit contenders if you ask me. Then compound that with the notion that Curry is in a contract year. So he may play well. If not he's expiring and perhaps could negotiate a buyout. Either way, I think the Jazz get better and still have a big expiring next year.

Sure he can be traded again - remember last off-season, when Q-Rich was being passed around the league like a joint at a Grateful Dead concert? Or when Sheed played a single game in Atlanta before being traded to Detroit?

You may be thinking of the prohibition on trading a newly-signed Free Agent until either three months have elapsed after signing him or after December 15th, whichever is later. But that doesn't apply to a contracted player like Turiaf.

I think the potential with AK is better is the problem.

The potential with AK playing in a contract year or the teams potential with AK? I think that with even just Chandler and Turiaf the Jazz have better chances than with AK. I am not slamming AK as worthless, but I think that the skills that the other two bring, the Jazz are a team better able and ready to compete for the Western Conference and for a title. It would give a scoring swing man in Chandler, and Turiaf can play the 1 or the 2. He is an energy player who will be scrappy on the boards and block shots. Both guys have reasonable contracts and I think would bring more to the team than the sum what AK brings.
