Rumor: Utah Jazz Could Help Cavs Create Trade Exception

I say give Burke one more look. There is no hurry to ship him off. We invested heavily with two first round picks. At the very least, let's try to see if he can improve his value and we can get something of value back. He does have the USA team invite going for his value.

I'm a believer in people and underdogs. If someone works hard enough they can over come their weaknesses and shortcomings. If he shoots really good next year, that's all it would take really. Then he would have a different look to him. If he shoots 38% from 3, and 47 % fg, then that could be a huge boost in value, and he doesn't even have to become quicker. Just do that, along with some better decision making then we have something. It's not impossible. Give him another look.

Getting rid of Kanter was addition by subtraction because it increased Gobert's minutes and role. If ,say, Booker was Kanter's replacement, the team would not have improved simply by getting rid of Kanter.

I think Burke is pretty worthless as a player. However, since his salary is so low, it makes little sense to get rid of him for nothing. Freeing up minutes for Cotton or Neto is pretty meaningless. And there is always the slim chance that Burke will improve.
Cotton, neto > than burke doe.
Addition by subtraction still stands. Not nearly as big a case as shedding kanter....... It would just be a minor addiction by subtraction but for me a minor improvement is better than none at all

That would make him one of the best PGs in the league...

Not necessarily. Shooting good percentages doesn't necessarily make you dominant. There could still be other holes in his game. Like assists, and not getting to the line.

So taking on $13 million in junk nets 2 second rounders? It is going to be a long rest of the decade for Portland. . .

Glad the Jazz didn't partake in this. 2nd rounders are a dime a dozen these days; with Cleveland expected to rule the eastern conference until Lebron's sundown, I would demand these at least be 1st rounders which will likely fall in the 25-30 range or tell them to screw themselves.

We sold the 54th pick for 1.5m, so even late 2nd round picks have some value.

If that were anywhere near close to the case then those two wouldn't have signed for such low amounts with team options.

Curious how so many of you know how good Neto is without ever watching him play a game?
Can't be worse than trey

Looks like Cleveland did the trade with Portland instead. https://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/...an-haywood-mike-miller-portland-trail-blazers. Portland got two second round picks.
Meh. They have to buy out Miller AND they sent Cleveland cash. All for a couple of seconds? Jazz already have a **** load of seconds. Not that anything will happen, but Utah is better served keeping the cap space open at the deadline...just in case Trey and picks can be packaged for a better player.

Yep. If it had been for a late first round I might have been a little disappointed the Jazz got shut out... but as you said the Jazz don't need any more second rounders.
