Russell Westbrook and the Utah Jazz

10/31 westbrook.

lord al mighty

13 assists, but thats faaaar to many shots for wesbrook IMO. I WANT a distributing pg who can manage games and set up his scorers.

But did you watch the game. He took a lot of dumb shots at the wrong time. At the same time, he compensated for it by making a great play. But if he played more under control and with more intelligence, OKC would be heading for an NBA title rather than losing to Memphis.

You guys complain about Trey shooting too much and now you want Westbrook. The Guy missed 20+ shots to get his 30 pts.

Trey isn't even remotely close to Westbrook as far as skills and abilities are concerned. I'd take a bad knees version of Westbrook before any of the PG's the the Jazz have under contract.

And who do the Jazz have that can do that?

By all means let's not get elite level talent. Makes total sense.

So what you are saying is that he isn't perfect and has flaws? I agree.

If you are saying that because of those flaws then the Jazz shouldn't ever get him then I disagree.

He would be the best player on the team immediately and second wouldn't be close.

True, but I'd take Conley as my PG over Westbrook as things stand. Conley is a much smarter player and makes the right plays, generally, at the right time. Conley's a true PG -- Westbrook is a hybrid.

This.

Its funny how so many jazz fanz dont seem to want melo, harden, westbrook, etc.

Lets just roll with hayward as our go to guy

With the emergence of Jackson I think you are more likely to get Westbrook before you'd get Conley.

If the Jazz want someone who can distribute and hit the occasional outside shot then they should pick me up for a 10 day contract.

I'd get destroyed every time I step on the floor but at least distribution is my mindset and that is the most important thing, right?

This is not a bad post and i can see that arguement as quite valid.

I would take westbrook over conley and its not even close

In all fairness though, the Jazz should probably offer a 10-day to A-Train before they offer it to me.

I'm gonna spit ball here and just start a discussion.

It's not like it hasn't been said before that KD and Westbrook could eventually be split up. I don't have the stats but hasn't it been said that both have, at times, been better without the other? Reggie Jackson has become very good when Russ was out injured as well.

I personally don't think this is THAT far fetched. We are likely one of the few teams able to pull it off and there is likely not a better time than now with a new coach coming in and a very high lottery pick in a great draft on the way. In reading about Westbrooks personality, he seems to relish in the underdog/looked over roll. Well he'd instantly have his own team in an underdog market.

If OKC gets bounced in the first round there will be a lot of hand wringing in that organization. We'd be able to offer a lot of different options from young players to draft picks to cap room to accommodate multi-team trades.

Thoughts?

I like him and would want him, but the injuries concern me and I don't see him getting any better past his late 20's.

I agree Westbrook is the more talented player but Conley makes more use of his talent because he plays smarter.

I think on a team with a talent vacuum like the jazz currently have, a player like westbrook would be way better suited for us than conley.

A team that already has some great players would be better for conley so he doesnt have to do too much
