Russell Westbrook, Yay or Nay?

Ok, we should decide: do we want Russell Westbrook to play for the Jazz for the rest of the year?

  • Yes, we want to get back into the playoffs

  • Yes, he will be the tank commander

  • No, he would ruin chemistry

  • No, he's too good and it's Wembyama time!

Russell Westbrook has done more, Save Karl Malone and Derrick Rose only, for MVPs in Utah than any other man who played here.

I particularly appreciate the part where he never played for the Jazz.
This. Its insane to me that anyone wanted him to suit up for us

And so we say farewell to another in a long line of legendary Jazz point guards...
John Stockton
Derrick Rose
Patrick Beverley
Russell Westbrook

If the Clippers get better or should I say, they will have someone who will play every game competitively and if the Lakers and the Wolves are better, then what happens to the Jazz seeding and what happenings to the Wolves pick?

So was this a buyout or did we just waive him? did he get to have his cake and eat it too?

Sounds like they bought him out and then waived him.

Can you do both? I would think once you are bought out that waiving isn’t a thing but maybe they hit him with the double whammy to make sure he’s definitely gone. I was just curious cuz Andy said they waived him. I figured once you are waived it means you didn’t give a buyout. I would have thought it would be worded differently.

Sounds like he was waived because Woj said after he clears waivers. When you are bought out you’re free to sign to any team right away except the team that traded you.

From Sportskeeda.com:
"When a buyout has been agreed upon, the team pays the player the amount they negatiated. The player enters the waiver wire for 48 hours before becoming a free agent and choosing the team he wants to play for next."

IIRC, you have to do both. Before the buyout is finalized, any team with space and desire can claim a player off waivers.

Edit: Ninja'd.

I think this is correct
