What's new

looking at the clip and i actually think he's a pretty decent athlete. i also think that his form is pretty good (better than Matthews since he doesn't really take "jump" shot). seems like another nice find in the undrafted territory.

Hey guys, I went to Rider and recently graduated from there. I got to see Ryan play and he does have some game. His ball handling skills are pretty good and he took over the point some parts of the game. He has long arms which helps him and has some hops. If he makes the team he would be a good contributor but not like his brother. It's cool to see him going somewhere. I always saw him at the food court at school and parties/clubs.

Real goods points here, guys. The article after the vids mentioned him playing POINT GUARD which was confusing, then the student from Rider mentioned he sometimes did play PG at Rider. Nice; a potential swing-man who looks like he's got good all-round ball skills.
So maybe keep him over Sundiatta? That let's us keep Jeffers for his defense if they are concerned about his D. I also like the fact Ryan is still growing; he said brother Jason had a "late growth spurt".

He isnt a PG, he is a SG/SF with PG skills to an extent. Utah likes to keep 3 "Pgs" on their roster, I use the quotes because Gaines and Price arent much of PG's, especially Gaines.

Exactly. Price could remain at #2 for now, just 'cause he's got a contract and coach has some degree of trust in him. Gaines is expendable and #3 PG doesn't play much anyway. Thompson could also slip in as a SG or even SF, if he continues to grow. I know Sloan really values guys who can play multiple positions.

With all the wings we already have, I'd be more interested to see him make it as our 3rd PG. He did get some experience at PG in college, is a good passer, and has a high basketball IQ.
Jeffers supposedly showed improvement offensively this summer, and is already a tough defender. We need that; other than Bell, we have NOONE who can defend at SG!
Gaines, who reportedly didn't show any improvement this summer, is expendable.
Our 13 could then be:
PG - DWill, Price, Thompson
SG - Bell, Hayward, Jeffers, Miles
SF - Kirilenko, Miles, Hayward, Evans
PF - Millsap, Kirilenko, Jefferson
C - Jefferson, Okur, Fesenko

When did Miles get demoted to 4th string SG? It looks like he's only going to play 10-15 minutes a game behind AK according to your depth chart. I don't see how Miles isn't the starting 2 for us this year. He really came on strong at the end of last year. Additionally, his competition is Raja Bell. The guy played like 5 games last year. He will come off the bench.

Im always down for changing the end of our roster, just for the sake of changing and things to talk about.

I like to see young guys come back after the end of the prior season with an improved game. Jeffers seems to have done that, Gaines didn't. That tells me Jeffers is more coachable, plus he's a cheap defender at SG. However we do it, somebody is gonna need to step up behind Raja Bell at SG; either Jeffers, Hayward, or Miles; heck, even Thompson. I will be surprised if Bell isn't starting.
I'm thinking worst-case here that Okur can't go to start the season. That means Fes needs to step up; I think we have to be careful not to play Jefferson too many minutes early in the season to where he's gassed by the end of the season. If Fes can give us 15-18 minutes of good play a game w/o Okur, it could be huge!
To simpify, I show Hayward at SG and Miles at SF; we don't know at this stage which will perform better defensively between SG and SF.
Here's a ball-park breakdown of estimated minutes; no worries; CJ will get his!
PG - Williams(35), Price (10), Thompson(3)
SG - Bell(30), Hayward(15), Jeffers(3)
SF - Kirilenko(15), Miles(30), Evans(3)
PF - Millsap(30), Kirilenko(15), Jefferson(3)
C - Jefferson(30), Fesenko(3), Okur(15)
