What's new

SA and Flagg

And then somehow after reading the thread it’s even more terrifying lol.

I seriously will be just furious if this happens. I would likely say I’m quitting but in reality might check out for a minute until getting pulled back. But SA getting Flagg (or Harper) would just be so stupid.
The problem is it's a real possibility...

But why? The team with Flagg, Wemby and Fox would be so much fun to watch for everyone who loves basketball. And I am sure Flagg would LOVE being part of that team. Good for Flagg, good for the NBA fans.

I don't think we should derive pleasure from forcing players to Utah if they really do not want to be there. And I never heard Flagg saying that he yearns for the Wasatch Range.

Then they'll get him. No point stressing out about things you can't affect. Also, 1+1+1 isn't always three. Who knows how well it'd work if one of them is only the third option. It doesn't always work just like that, snap click boom.

They always hit on luck. Show me a luckier franchise in the league (Lakers don’t count).

The Jazz traded for a dirt-cheap, pretty meh role player, and watched as he suddenly turned into an All-Star and a Top 20 guy in this league... an incredible value-for-money asset. Out of nowhere.

And what did they do after this unprecedented stroke of luck?

They refused to turn him into a massive pile of rebuild-friendly assets via trade, intentionally destroyed a promising team around him, built a terrible tank roster that killed his game and value, still gave him an incomprehensible $240 million deal and watched as he became just a guy standing in the corner.

That's not being unlucky, it's incompetence.

Another Spurs luck piece we are forgetting to say. They drafted 4th this past draft and the best player in the draft fell into their lap.
It also cannot be overstated that the Raptors fell out of their protected range which they tanked their asses off to get to - because two teams with some of the lowest odds to jump - jumped ahead of them, making that pick convey at the highest possible value (8th in the 2024 draft).

They then used that pick to get a ‘31 pick and ‘30 swap from the Timberwolves. They then traded the ‘31 Minnesota pick as the centerpiece of their offer to the Kings for Fox.

Every trap they lay gets them a pelt that outrageously defies any reasonable statistical likelihood. Then the Hawks - not owning a pick and supposedly all-in - inexplicably trade two of their best four players to save money for… to save money, or…?

At what point does the league create a mechanism to nullify outcomes with an emergency vote of the board of governors because it is so outrageous? Cuz that’s what the Luka deal is, and SA getting the #1 pick this year (or even top-4) is way worse. They will be virtually unbeatable for a half-decade stretch, conservatively.

And then they own the Hawks draft for two more years after this year. AJ Dybantsa is already rubbing his hands in anticipation of being a Spur.

Let’s not forget that they have won the lottery three times and gotten perennial top-5 players every single time.
