What's new

Same old issues

I know that this is only the first game of the season but I see the same problems that I saw last year.

Jefferson is a black hole. If you watched this game then you know that this has got to stop. He is a ball stopper on offense and he is an open door on defense.

Harris cannot run the offense. I really like Harris, but he is not built for this type of offense. Fisher blew by him more than once, and one time tis too many.

Bell plays too many minutes. Bell looks improved but he still seems to hesitate when it is time to take a shot.

I know that these three things are not all of the issues but they are the same issues when the Jazz had a historically bad finish to last season. If we are going to get blown out at least get the rookies more playing time. It can't be any worse than the product that we are watching currently.

On a side note, I liked the fact that Millsap came off the bench. That was the only real bright spot in this game. He will excel in that role.

Good post. Which is precisely why we should go into full rebuild mode and start stocking draft picks.

This team just doesn't fit together

They just need to cut there losses and call it a rebuilding. Bell, Howard, Harris, Watson, tinsley have got to go for.draft picks and young pieces. Then run a rotation of Burks, Hayward, millsap, favors, Jefferson bench of miles, Evans, kanter. All get playing time and we might actually have a player or two developed into an All-star. This is the perfect season to really go out and fully rebuild.

You left out Miles' constantly clanking shots off the rim..

You almost have the idea. Keep Watson around and throw Jefferson out of town even if it means you get nothing in return. I still feel like Jefferson is the root of the issue on the team. I hear great thing about him but I never see great things from him.

I'm sure that this has been mentioned elsewhere but I hate that TNT didn't go to the Jazz game during the timeouts for the Heat/Celtics game and then they had to have a little break after that game was over.More than half of the first quarter was over by that time. Basically it pisses me off that the Jazz looked good for those first few minutes and I missed all of it.

I was somewhat impressed with kanter. Missed some easy ones, but played with intensity every minute.

I agree about the intensity. He will learn to better position himself to score easy buckets but he gets after every rebound that he possibly can. Kanter will be a double double machine soon enough.

Disagree with this. Utah needs to maximize Al's trade value. No need to be in a hurry to dump him. We should put him in position to put up big numbers, and see who bites leading up to the trade deadline.

This would go over real well with Jazz fans. Going from a 3 point guard team to a 0 point guard team. I'm all for playing the young guy as much as possible but you have to have good vets that give a crap about playing hard. Jefferson isn't one of those guys.

I feel like people are going to look at the box score and blame it on Jefferson for his high number of attempts, but truth is no one else was being aggressive. If we didn't throw it down to Al in the post, the shot clock would just get down to 5 then we hoisted up a crap shot. Jefferson made many a pass out of the post to open shooters, only for them to brick the shots.

I don't feel like today's game was an accurate portrayal of how the rest of the season will be. I think we will continue to suck it up on the road, but today I feel was an inordinate amount of suck. Someone else besides AL has to step it up and demand the ball though and make some plays. I see Hayward do it at times, then he makes a turnover or misses a shot and shys away from it for a while.

The sheer ineptitude of our finishing killed our will. Whether it be a Kanter or Jefferson missed layup or a missed jump shot by a wing; nothing was falling at all and it killed our offense and eventually killed out defense.

We have a lot of issues but to me the biggest is the lack of an outside threat. Teams are going to realize this if they haven't already.

I'm a little worried about Hayward. Will his sophomore pro year be like his sophomore college year? Extend role leading to a drop in shooting efficiency?

I'm going to get blasted for this, I know .. but Hayward seems to be most effective freestyle .. a la AK.

:p

Did we watch the same game? Jefferson completely stopped the movement from the offense. As the game wore on nobody wanted to do anything when Jefferson got the ball. He hurts the team more than he helps.

When the offense ran through him even a little bit others seemed to get open looks that they didn't convert on. I would like to see Hayward get more touches. It seems to help.
