Machado went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft but joined the Houston Rockets summer league team.[5] He averaged 8.0 points, 5.6 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game.[6] As a result of his performance, he was given a chance to play for the Rockets in the 2012–13 NBA season.
On November 14, 2012, Machado was assigned to the NBA D-League.[7] He made his regular season debut with the Rockets on November 28, 2012.[8] On November 30, 2012, he was re-assigned to the Vipers.[9] He was recalled on December 22, 2012.[10]
On January 7, 2013, Machado was waived by the Rockets.[11]
On January 29, 2013, Machado was acquired by the Vipers. He was traded to the Santa Cruz Warriors on March 8, 2013.[12] On April 7, 2013, he signed a ten-day contract with the Golden State Warriors.[13] The next day, he was sent back to Santa Cruz as an assignee of Golden State.[14] On April 17, 2013, the Golden State Warriors signed Machado for the rest of the season.[15] Machado stayed with the Santa Cruz Warriors for the rest of that team's playoff run until the Warriors lost the best-of-three 2013 NBA D-League Finals series to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on April 26.[16] Machado debuted for the Warriors on April 28 in Game 3 of the Warriors' first-round series against the Denver Nuggets with 2 points, 1 rebound, and 1 turnover in 4 minutes.[17]
On July 24, 2013, he was waived by the Warriors.[18]
