sekou smith of nba.com thinks a rip hamilton trade is in order for the jazz

Do we really want a SG for 12 million that's shooting 40 percent and only scoring 13 per game?

Jeez, if we end up trading for Rip, then KOC needs to be fired for letting Wes Matthews go. Wes's deal looks like a steal compared to Rip. Not to mention he's younger and much better at this point of his career.

Jazz have not been playing well of late but the good this is that so have most of their immediate rivals. Thunder, Lakers, Mavericks, Nuggets have all failed to impress in recent games, as have the Jazz. It's still too early to hit the panic button and make a trade, especially for someone like Rip, who is way past his prime. Jazz have not even played with all their players healthy, as Memo hasn't gotten the chance to show what he can do in this new Jazz lineup. We know he is capable of being a big factor and highly capable of sharing the scoring load.

Also, I don't like the aura of how every time the Jazz play badly, D will comes out being all frustrated and seems like his pointing fingers. I just get the feeling that the Jazz are playing for D Will and trying to audition for him to give him a reason to stay on in Utah. He just doesn't seem too proud to lead this team, especially when they lose, in my opinion.

This "rumor" is almost as evergreen as Sam Smith articles predicting Wally Z being sent to the Bulls were in the early 2000s.

If there's a lockout next year wouldn't Rip's contract expire? Or would the year take effect after the lockout?

Could depend on a) how long the lockout lasts and b) what the owners and players agree to.

If they play a partial season it will almost assuredly count as the final year of his contract.

Because the 3 other highest paid players on the team only show up when they feel like it?
No way, Deron's a bad guy. He's a ballhog, holding the Jazz back with his forcing the Jazz to audition for him and not passing to his underwhelming, inconsistent options.

It's important to forget that he's been top-5 in assists for most of his career, he's top-10 in PER and has the second-best +/- on the team even though he plays in a starting lineup that usually digs the team in a hole because he's trying to get his teammates involved. Also forget that he's the heart and soul of this team. And the only one that shows up every night. Forget all that. Bad guy, bad leader. Bad bad.
