Saw some reports over the weekend that indicate that the GOP is closing ranks behind the new president. In the form of his transition team was having difficulty getting people to commit to offers of positions. Now everyone is calling back quick to gobble up those spots.
 
I really think this will end up being more of a Trump as a puppet situation. My bet is we don't see much crazy from Trump and more of the main republican base getting their agenda going full tilt with the nearly unprecedented level of control of all branches of government. Yet another reason the 2 party system sucks donkey balls.

As an outside perspective this a golden opportunity for the Rs to expand their base beyond whites.

Focus on immigration. Give some to get some and bring Latinos into your fold. Then pitch it as "When the Ds had power they ignored your problems, but when we had power we made you the priority. You matter."

Give some to win long term on the issue.

They won't though because they are fools.
 
Crossing fingers that Gingrich is a key member of his advisory group.. whatever title/position that may carry.

But back during the summer, Gingrich said Trump had offered him a senior position and the former Speaker saw himself as more of a waste, fraud and abuse czar — er, “senior adviser.” From The Hill:

“I said I want to be the senior planner for the entire federal government, and I want a letter from you that says Newt Gingrich is authorized to go to any program in any department, examine it and report directly to the president,” Gingrich said Tuesday at a reception sponsored by the law firm Dentons."

He basically wants to have unlimited power to make executive changes as he sees fit to the entire federal government. He'll probably get it. Newt will be one of Donald's right-hand men.

This is fascinating ****. Trump has no allegiance to anyone beyond maybe the few people who supported him. And he needs to now surround himself with his political operatives. How many will he go through in the process? I predict an epic ****show.
