Serious Question: Might Kendall Marshall be the one to break Stocks assist record?

Absurd question. However, the Jazz have no ****ing excuse for not picking up Marshall. None. Every team passed on having Marshall around, but when Marshall became available, the Jazz had NOTHING at PG. It was an absolutely riskless proposition and he didn't even get a sniff.

Dumb.

do u even mike dantoni bro? dis guy aint dat great. he's a product of mike d's system. mike d made chris duhon look like a franchise player, jeremy lin look like a HOFer.

That's one record I just don't see ever getting broken. The league has less and less pass-first point guards every year. That and most point guards today can't stay healthy. Stockton did.

Seems unfathamable until you see the numbers. I understand years played and all that, but man he drops dimes. Averaging 11 over the last 10 Playing with nothing but turds. What a find for the lakers.

....I haven't been given a warning for quite a while. I'd love to keep my record clean this year. But when "Vermin" came up with this thread:"Serious Question: Might Kendall Marshall be the one to break Stocks assist record? and then suggested this particular player could possibly do it......I have decided to take a "bullet" because the real question is this:
HAVE YOU LOST YOUR (edited) MIND??? (Perhaps the mods will consider the enormity of such blasphemy and cut me some slack!)

Haha. Love the question... I love everyone going crazy. Just a what if senario...

A while back I argued in the Marshall vs Rivers thread (I all of a sudden look good as that thread goes right now) that Marshall was an elite passer, and the best passer to come out in a long time. Now he finds himself in Mike D'Antoni's system, and suppose they anoint him the long term answer at pg. he's averaged double digit assists for about ten games, and say he does this the rest of the year. Marshall doesn't rely on speed and athletic ability, he looks like he could play for a long time with his style of play. Stockton averaged 4-5 assists the first 3-4 years of his career. I'm not saying or even think Marshall will break Stocktons mark....

Bishes.... Records were made to be broken, and this paints the picture that this is a valid question, and not a disgrace to the great John Stockton. Think about it... Say someone breaks his record many years from now, it would be a small reminder to the world the greatness that was John Stockton, How great is that one last reminder to the rest of the sports world what we will never forget. Again Records were made to be broken!

Not dumb..................when you set your team up to tank. Wasn't this great point guard playing in the d league this year after having been in the big league. Guess lots of gm are dumb in the NBA.

Marshall has such a small sample size right now, it's ridiculous, absurd, disrespectful, and insulting to suggest he might be better than Stockton.

I think its going to happen and Kendall Marshal will brake Stockton's record and will say this;

"I know that the Jazz had a guard earlier who held the most assists record for a long time and I didn’t get a call by them 20 years ago, so I kind of felt a certain about that."

The OP never suggested he would or that he's a better guard. And he's definitely not saying Marshall will be better. Get off your self made pedestal!

I am ok with someone eventually breaking Stockton's record but I just don't think it is going to happen. It is one of the records that might stand the test of time like Ty Cobb's 511 wins. However, the wrath from Stockton's fans is justified considering the small sample size that Marshall has played. Remember Stockton played behind Ricky Green so his assist totals would have been higher if he started right away. Another issue is when Stockton played the NBA was the WWF, hand-checking and rassl'n was allowed. I can only imagine how many more assists he would have had.

What Marshall has done is certainly note-worthing considering how he was left for dead but come on it is only 10 games. So I think it is too early to tell but I highly doubt Marshall will last as long in the NBA as Stockton unless he improves his shot. However, a lot (not just the Jazz) GMs look silly for cutting him.

This thread ****ing sucks. It's like me running a 40 yard dash and saying "You know what, if I can keep this pace up, I bet I can beat the marathon world record."
