Serious Question: Might Kendall Marshall be the one to break Stocks assist record?

This thread ****ing sucks. It's like me running a 40 yard dash and saying "You know what, if I can keep this pace up, I bet I can beat the marathon world record."

If you replace Marathon with Ultra-Marathon you would be closer.

I am ok with someone eventually breaking Stockton's record but I just don't think it is going to happen. It is one of the records that might stand the test of time like Ty Cobb's 511 wins. However, the wrath from Stockton's fans is justified considering the small sample size that Marshall has played. Remember Stockton played behind Ricky Green so his assist totals would have been higher if he started right away. Another issue is when Stockton played the NBA was the WWF, hand-checking and rassl'n was allowed. I can only imagine how many more assists he would have had.

What Marshall has done is certainly note-worthing considering how he was left for dead but come on it is only 10 games. So I think it is too early to tell but I highly doubt Marshall will last as long in the NBA as Stockton unless he improves his shot. However, a lot (not just the Jazz) GMs look silly for cutting him.

How is it disrespectful regardless of the sample size?

Marshall was considered a prodigy of sorts as a passing pg coming into the draft, and was picked in the lotto solely on his ability to pass the basketball, and never really got a chance, then out of the blue Marshall is called from the D-league, and has done nothing but put up huge assist totals since his first game this year. He's putting up numbers I figure Stockton would've put up had he not been a backup to a player like Ricky Green.

What does this mean? It means that people will ask questions such as these. There's no disrespect. I appreciate the question, because I get a sence of pride in being reminded that one of the greats played for my team.

No one said Marshall was better or even as good, and seartaintly no one even said he would. So get over it.

Hey dumbass!!! This is basically the first chance he's gotten real minutes and already getting 11 assists a game. It's not hard to imagine him doing that if he were to continue to start, assuming Marshall does this all year. It's not like Stockton did that in year 1 or 2.

haha I'd recommend an advanced study which centers on proportional response.
Bro, you are a moron. Stockton's record is one of the most unbreakable records in sports. Not only would Marshall have to average +10 assists for much of his career, but he would also have to stay healthy too. Remember, Stockton didn't miss a whole lot of games. You know, quintessence of douche bagism, it is pretty silly to take this notion seriously: Kendall Marshall, a recent D-leaguer, is now poised to break Stockton's assist record after seeing a sample size of 10 or so games. We should talk scrupulously about how it is indeed a legit possibility haha. If Jason Kidd and Steve Nash could not do it, I can't seem to fathom how Marshall could, but then again, you are an emotional man who often neglects logic and civilized social interaction because you are pissed about something all of the time.

Cy Young, Cobb had the hits record until Pete Rose broke it.

Hey, Vermin, you stepped into the forbidden zone, the holy grail of Jazzfanz, John Stockton's assist record.

....it's not that he stepped into the "forbidden zone" of Jazzfanz (although he did!) but to suggest some D-League guy who's played all of 10 games (or less than 50) in the NBA who happened to have a couple of decent games with double digit assists, going on to break Stockton's assist record is like suggesting Dennis Rodman is the "most handsome man in the world" or Russell Wilson has more football brains than Peyton Manning or the weather in Seattle is better than in South Carolina! By the way, Stockton has another record that won't ever be broken.....all time steals! Who's the closest right now to that record?

C'mon, people are being overly sensitive. Cotton-pickin as an adjective has lost all its connotation to slavery. Let's stop fighting the Civil War.

Dude.....cj and the rest of his racist honeys are all that's left using that connotation. Not really an okay sample size for mass adoption. He also used it because my avatar is black.

Also btw... Why are you so mad at thee? He could be your robin if you would drop your prejudice against him.

He also used it because my avatar is black.

....actually, you look like a fine outstanding young man! Well groomed, no signs of gangsta rap blood in you at all! Clean cut, no visible jailhouse tats, no pants to the ground, hat turned sideways! If we ever had lunch together....I'd be more than happy to pick up the tab, even though you probably make more money per year than I do! We could discuss sports, hip hop.....or anything else that comes to mind!

While I'm by no means a fan of KKKarolinajazz's, I don't understand why there's backlash to this term. "Cotton pickin'" is just another way of saying "damned" or "goddamned" for people who don't want to uses swears. It's the "flippin'" or "fetching" of an older generation. Now, if he was to use the term "cotton picker. then pile on. Me, I would just say "Have you lost your ****ing mind?"

...well, the "high arke" didn't see it that way! (The name Arke is of Yiddish origin....the meaning of Arke is "high mountain, exalted".) I figured I might get dinged on that one....and I did! But as you clearly and most reasonably pointed out, that "expression" as a racial slur/term has long ceased to exist! I have no idea what's in that water out there in Utah....but it's got something to do with it, don't ya think?
