Sexual Harassment Scandals: What about Trump?

Lol. You said

I guess I'm confusing you with the dumbass named Gameface who used to constantly post stuff like this. Sorry about that. You often remind me of him, though, so I got you two confused:
Yep that's the only thing I ever said, just how awesome she'd be.

Hillary Clinton would be an awesome administrator. She is and has been good at administration. I choose my words carefully. Notice I never said there how much I like her, how much I agree with her ideology, how inspiring she is for me?

How about all the times I said she is basically your standard politician. By which I mean she's kind of sleazy and dirty, like most politicians.

You continue to mistake my support for Clinton as a far better alternative to Trump. Even in that post what I was arguing against was this idea that it was better to vote "none of the above" than to vote for Clinton. If you can't see the current state of things and admit we;d be far better off had we Elected Hillary Clinton then I'm sorry, you've got ****ing blinders on.

I have always said Clinton is competent. I stand by that. She knows how our government works, she is familiar with international affairs, she understands our military's role in international diplomacy.

I have argued against the multi-decade long character assassination which was successfully carried out against her. Things people believe about Hillary Clinton are largely false. Like I said, she has been given nearly supernatural evil powers by conservatives. She's just a normal human.

I've been very consistent in how I've spoken about here and I'm sorry your so stuck in yuo common sense (read: simplistic) way of interpreting what I'm saying, especially in what you quoted. Now pardon me while I go dig up the times I clarified my position for your benefit that you are still not acknowledging.

Personal attack reported, btw

I'm struggling with the whole sexual harassment thing. On one hand, I am beyond grateful for the women and men who are brave enough to tell their stories, which has encouraged so many of us to tell our stories. It has been interesting to see women realize how much harassment and even assault they have lived through without understanding it at the time. We have accepted so much crap in our lives because we didn't know it could ever be different. We have spent so many years viewing ourselves through men's eyes, believing our role in life is to make everything better and easier for men at the expense of ourselves. I find myself doing it all the time.

On the other hand, I'm not sure that people's lives should now be ruined for behavior in the past that was inappropriate but not criminal. Al Franken deserves to be embarrassed, but I don't think it means he should resign. I don't know that even Roy Moore should step aside, although I do go back and forth on this. At some point, outing people for being handsy many years ago seems a bit petty just because they are famous. All of us do not want our stupid, noncriminal behavior in the past to be broadcast to the world and our lives destroyed. While I've lived through some pretty ugly stuff, I have no interest in finding these guys and demanding justice. I'm just hopeful that as they've learned more, they've done better. And if they didn't, I hope they've been caught and prosecuted. I've only had two situations rise to the level of reporting to the police, which I did. They were dealt with in a way that was appropriate to the times.

I worry that criminal sexual behavior is going to get lost among all the "he touched me" stories. But I don't want to make it seem like harassment isn't a big deal, because it is. And I'm glad that this is a teaching moment for many, men and women.

So yeah, back to my original point - I'm struggling to find my line in the sand.

I think the information that the hackers revealed was the real problem, but the left is doing a good job convincing themselves otherwise.

And if you don't think GF was hyping Hillary as if she was some awesome gift to the electorate then you weren't reading his posts.

Please.

I consistently described her as a pretty standard politician. I said she was competent. I said she'd be pretty predictable and essentially more of the same, which I was perfectly okay with compared to the ****ing clown show Trump is continuing to be.

Let me describe "standard politician" for you. Someone who is essentially dishonest, self-interested, tells people what they want to hear, makes empty promises, knows how to play the game, knows how to work with other standard politicians for their mutual benefit and not necessarily the benefit of the people.

Since politicians are typically the people who hold political offices I'm okay with politicians. It doesn't mean I hold them in high regard.

But Trump isn't a standard politician. He's a demagogue. He's petty and small. Every bit as dishonest as any politician, he's just too unskilled at the political arts to keep us safe.

I'll take a standard politician over Trump any day of the week and Hillary Clinton fit that bill. I absolutely did not build her up as though she was amazing. I simply refused to agree that she was some demon woman. Big difference.

Do you think I'm a jackass if I admit that I can't stand either of them? I don't understand the people who find either Clinton or Trump worthy of a defense, and I think the only reason that most of them do is because the other option makes their skin crawl (not because they really believe in the disaster they are defending). If more people admitted that two terrible choices are no choice at all we might not be sentenced to this idiocy. Sadly, that is a fantasy.

I think you're a fool who has fallen for the propaganda campaign that has been going on for 20 years against Hillary Clinton. If she was anyone else (and especially anyone else with a penis) we'd just be calling her another politician. But because of the narrative driven by utter desperation by the Republican establishment which targeted her as a threat for the Presidency the second Bill left office, you belive she is the most dishonest person on planet Earth. Congratulations on your gullibility. She's no saint. I don't want a saint to be president of the U.S.. But she certainly isn't out of the ordinary when it comes to top level politicians.

I don't care to roast anyone over their past political favs. I thought I was having a reasonable discussion with Bullet. That's a good day in my book. I'd feel the same way if Hillary or Bill cared to talk to me about stuff with any kind of real thoughtfulness and seeking for better understanding.

I'm going to say this one last time. The thing I liked most about Hillary Clinton was that she was NOT Donald Trump. I also stand by my statements that she would have been competent... but that's basically just saying she's NOT Donald Trump all over again.

@Jason - I love that when I quote a long post it has an 'expand' button. Hate that I can't be a rep this post.

Lol. You consider it a personal attack that I mistook you for Gameface, and then you admit to being Gameface? Good one.

you called me (gameface) a dumbass. We're not on good terms. You call me a dumbass, that's intentionally antagonizing. Let's just have a civil conversation.

I have said things to you that I regret, so calling me a dumbass is pretty minor in comparison, but if we're gonna have a conversation let's have a respectful conversation.

Because, to this point, "decency" in politicians is primarily a ploy to put down other politicians that aren't a part of your 'tribe'.

When you have 50 pastors voicing their support of Moore, it just crystallizes things-- they don't give a **** if "their guy" is a sex-offender, or a rapist (which Trump surely is). They just care if he can win, and enact policies that they agree with.

--

For what its worth, Democrats should force Franken to resign. I'm sure they wont because they're spineless and myopic and can't see how this would benefit them in the long-term, but that's what should happen. Obviously what Franken did isn't as bad as what Moore did, but that's not the point.

--

I've been warmed by seeing men losing jobs, occupations, and positions of power ever since the start of this #metoo campaign-- and I hope it continues.

I don't know about force him to resign. That's too far into the guilty before proven innocent regime for me.

Did you see the response letter he wrote? He stated that he felt it went differently, but was open to dialogue. He also asked for an ethics probe. Where being accused goes, it feels like he's doing it all right.

That's odd. Last Friday you stated you "do not care about raping politician". Just Hollywood sex offenders. Now, four days later it appears you care about politicians and rape....
