Did anybody watch Larkin in college? The only film we have on Schroeder is the Nike Hoop Summit and people are all over his nuts. You guys don't like Larkin because he is shorter than Schroeder that's about it.

It's not about one game for me. It's what the reports are saying about both players. Larkin looks like he could be a little beast on offense, but
what about his defense? I'm not trying to hate. The kid looks like a great guy, and a good offensive player. Can he defend anyone?

I like Schroeder over Larkin because of his defense, speed, and Pg skills. There is more to go on than just that silly all star game. His practices, Chicago, workouts,
2 years in Germany. Stop talking about the Nike Hoop Summit A-train. We get it, that game means very little. I'm with you.

Listen, all of you.

SHANE LARKIN WAS 2ND IN THE VOTING FOR ACC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR.

And it doesn't matter that his coach made sure he was matched up against the worst offensive guard on the floor every game.... and even said as much?

Length/height cannot be taught. Larkin might grow still, yeah, but so can every other normal-sized PG in the draft.

Schroder will get better at dealing with physical defense. Larkin's dwarfed height and t-rex arms are here to stay.

He is 5'11.5" and his wingspan is 5'11.5" explain t-rex arms?

I agree with a lot of this, with that being said how do we know that Schroeder is going to be a good defender? He will get pushed around by bigger guys as he weighs only 156 lbs! 156! Larkin has 20 lbs on him! So its either let the point guard shoot over our point guard (Larkin) or let the point guard physically dominate our point guard (Schroeder).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it easier to gain 20lbs of weight/muscle mass than to grow 9 extra inches off your arms?

Once again, Schroder can grow into his frame and do alright.

Larkin will still be a dwarf. And is 1 year older.

And at the end of the day, Utah said they liked Shane Larkin, meaning that we will not draft him.

We don't. He's a risk. All we can go on his body of work which is minimal, scouting reports, and videos. I will say the clips, and reports
I've seen are all positive when it comes to his defense. From what I've seen it looks like he is aggressive, and a very pesky in your face defender.

A-Train. I will say this I like Larkin. So if we get him I won't be that pissed after I get over it. There are just people I want more @14.

Agreed with this.

A-Train, let's put it this way. Your mom gives you $10 to spend at McDonald's. Yes I know you like Cheeseburger and you can certainly buy a Cheeseburger with that $10. But you've got $10 to spend, why not just get a Quarter Pounder? Or go crazy and get a Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese? You're only gonna live once, right??

Let's do a Schroeder vs. Larkin comparison:

Schroeder is 6'2" and Larkin is 5'11", advantage Schroeder by 3 inches.

Schroeder weighs 156 lbs. and Larkin weighs 176 lbs., advantage Larkin by 20 lbs.

Pick and Roll, which player is better at it? Larkin and it's not even close. Larkin is the second best player in this draft at the pick and roll behind McCollum.

Faster, which player is faster? Larkin, but it is pretty close, but Larkin did have the fastest 3/4 court sprint at the combine.

Athletic, which player is more athletic? Larkin, 44-inch vertical says it all pretty much.

Finishing, which player is better? Both of them aren't very good at finishing so it's a tie.

Shooting, which player is better? Tied, both are very good shooters.

Stats? Per 36-minutes:

Dennis Schroeder: 17.3 PPG, 4.6 APG, 3.6 RPG, 1.3 SPG, 3.7 TO's per game, 43% from field, 40% from three, and 83% from free-throw line.

Shane Larkin: 14.5 PPG. 4.6 APG, 3.8 RPG, 2 SPG, 2.3 TO's per game, 48% from field, 41% from three, and 78% from free-throw line.

Points? Schroeder wins. Assists? Tied. Rebounds? Larkin wins. Steals? Larkin wins. Turnovers? Larkin wins. FG%? Larkin wins. 3PT%? Larkin wins. FT%? Schroeder wins.

As you can see, they are VERY similar as far as stats go. Schroeder has a 1.2/1 assist to turnover ratio, while Larkin has a 2/1 assist to turnover ratio. Larkin's main concern is defending at his size, but he was the runner-up for ACC Defensive Player of the Year and averaged 2 steals a game? Not to mention Larkin was the ACC Player of the Year. Player of the year in his league and runner-up for defensive player of the year in his league is very good.

Schroeder does have a little bit of character issues and is a very arrogant player. Larkin is very good at interviews and comes off with no character issues at all.

Larkin is a one year and 13 days older than Schroeder is. Still, both of them are very young and have room to grow. Larkin played at the University of Miami and lead his team to a ACC Championship and made it to the Elite 8 and Schroeder is playing with grown men as well and was the Most Improved Player in the German league. Both players have proven themselves to play at high levels.

Jazzfanz logic is, let's draft Schroeder instead of Larkin because he is 3-inches taller and is one-year younger. Larkin weighs 20 more lbs. than Schroeder does! 20! Larkin is also the better athlete.

Regardless of what so called experts have to say, the Utah Jazz were impressed with Larkin’s workout. Perrin said after the workout, “Does it matter? There’s a couple of other players in the league (that size) still playing. If a guy can play, it doesn’t matter what his size is.”

“There’s a lot of things I think he (Schroeder) needs to work on,” Perrin said. “I think that (finishing at the rim) is one of them and that comes from getting a little bit stronger, understanding probably better angles on how to finish, especially against the big guys over here. I think he’s got to get a little bit more discipline and a lot of focus defensively, continue to work on his shots and ball handling.”

The Jazz liked Kanter 2-years ago (Larkin), but many mock drafts were pointing towards Knight (Schroeder). This is from 5 days before the draft from CBSSports: "Some execs are getting the indication that the Jazz prefer Kanter at #3."

All of this said, you can not go wrong with either Larkin or Schroeder.

Larkin is the obvious choice though. ;)

Fair enough. So it all comes down to JazzFanz wants to take a risk for once instead of going for a proven product. I totally understand that, but if we are going to do that why not go for Giannis?
