What's new

Shaq

Joe Ingles was very available. For a number of years, Exum was the most untouchable guy in the league.
Why do we care about this stuff... if a smoking hot girl wants to be your girlfriend you don’t ask if she’s so hot why didn’t some guy already snap her up.
Everyone is like everyone else, always looking around for approval before making a move, or being embarrassed, thinking "I think she's cute, but maybe other people don't and they'll laugh at me." Too often we're very content to wait for the 'cool' guy to make a move for us to agree, 'yep, she's hot... I knew it. I could probably never land someone like that.'
I’d buy a house but every time I’m in one I’m like... if this house so good why is it still on sale.

Also:
If everyone is jonesing to sign him, he's not coming here, not coming for the minimum, and not likely to be especially grateful for the opportunity. This is a blessing, and for a fanbase of a team that features TWO undrafted players that the Jazz dug out of nothing, we should be the first to acknowledge that teams miss all the time and appreciate that they do.

"I would never want to be part of a club that would have me for a member."

"If they're that good, why would they be interested in us?"

This was the type of stuff that drove me nuts about the KOC era. Not nearly as bad under DL because I think if he locked in on a guy, he wouldn't be afraid to go after him, but man, KOC's strategy was hitting the buffet line right after it opened, and when everyone was in line waiting for prime rib, he was loading up as many plates of macaroni and cheese as he could while everyone else fought over the good stuff.

By the way:
-the Suns gave up on him because he couldn’t shoot and they had no shortage of young guys to develop and check out
-The Bulls gave up on him because they’re a bad organization.

It shouldn’t necessarily be damning for the player when dog **** organizations don’t recognize what they have.

The Jazz gave up on Korver over 3 mill

Isn’t it funny how life works out sometimes. I am extremely happy about this signing and I can’t imagine how happy HH is. Moves like this for how small they are can be a big deal in the future.

If he turns out to be any good hopefully it means the Jazz grow a pair and pull the trigger on getting rid of Conman

I'm ecstatic about this move...but the most damning thing about Shaq is that he had a real role for a year and was horrible offensively. Still a great value for a minimum guy, but it's also good to be realistic here.

Also, huge shoutout to Tony Jones who said the Jazz were done in FA! Big props my man!
Thanks. Much appreciated.

Like I said in my story, the Jazz were finished. But when Shaq broke his hand, it affected his market and the Jazz were able to get him on a steal of a contract.

My actual words were “barring something unexpected, the Jazz are done in free agency”

signing Shaq Harrison for the minimum was unexpected.

Thank you for the props.

That's a sad indictment of NBAs GMs. Are they all that short sighted? A broken hand isn't a big deal and heals quick.
I can kind of see it this season. Covid has shrank rosters. There are some good players not on rosters right now. The Jazz for example want to keep their 15th spot open and it’s like this all over the league. So that’s like 20 spots off the bat that are normally available that are not filled and that’s because the two ways are pretty much guaranteed spots this season

It is alright to admit you are wrong sometimes. It happens.

Someone literally asked you if we could sign Shaq to a minimum deal.

You didn’t reply with "Shaq is expected to get more than a minimum deal" or "If he were to agree to the minimum then yes that’s a possibility".

I see why you use generalities like "barring something drastic" so you can use it later on but you were just flat out wrong on this one. Which is totally fine. I appreciate your contributions but you were wrong on this one and it is alright to say that my man.
Thank you for the feedback

I saw the part before you edited it. I think you do care. It is human nature.

Anyways, it is awesome for you to be apart of the forum and I wish you were more active! This place is a HUGE difference from Twitter where you get asked the same questions repeatedly. I don’t blame you for some of the generic answers because you get asked the same ones 24/7. The majority of guys on here are super fans and are very knowledgeable.

My comment wasn’t meant to be mean it was in a joking manner and if it is the one thing you’ve been wrong about I’m glad it is it. Shaq is pretty much universally loved on here.

And huge props on the Favors signing. I’m pretty sure you called that months before it even happened and you even broke the news. That’s big time, keep up the great work!
