Shootout In Ogden

So you guys are defending a guy that just killed an officer and shot 5 others? Some people just amaze me and make me sick. If you say he wasn't do anything how in the hell do you know? Hell he could have sold your kid something that kills them.... You have no clue as there are no details so don't assume **** and STFU with the baseless comments.

Didn't see anyone defending the guy. Please be more specific.

As far as the bold, YOU have no clue as there are no details so don't assume **** and STFU with the baseless comments. Guy.

Lets just give props to the officers for doing their job. It is sad that there are so many individuals that choose a life of destruction and misery loves company so they try to take down the lives of others.

Yes. Until evidence comes out that says otherwise. I know, I know, American justice is crazy.

For all we know this guy woke from a deep sleep by someone knocking his door in, was disoriented and scared for his life, so he went for a rifle and shot when he saw a bunch of people rushing him. It's a common problem with those stupid no knock warrants served at 3 in the morning. There are people sitting in prison for assault on an officer because their first response when being woken up by strange men was to punch and kick.

For all I know this guy is completely innocent based on his mental state of mind at the time and completely regretful for doing something he would have never intended to do. How would you like to wake up to the realization that you just shot and killed someone out of what you perceived as self defense?

Well said franklin. When you are coherent you come up with some good ****.

Some more detailed info on the situation. The guy was former Army Airborn based on the picture that I see (I could be wrong). His parents seem to think he was just responding to intruders in the house.

The inside story that I know is from a relative of one of the wounded police officers. Apparently they came to serve a warrant. They had identified themselves when knocking on the door. They knocked a few times and got no response. They opened the door and were immediately fired upon by a handgun. The shooter then ran. Police pursued. When they got back to him he opened up with an AK47.

I didn't get much more detail regarding the incident itself other than at least one of the other officers is in very very serious condition.

Say a prayer for them... or just send your best wishes if you don't believe in that stuff.

Just listened to Ogden City Chief of Police. He said that it was a simple "knock and announce" warrant. They knocked, announced their presence and waited for him to answer the door. When the perp didn't answer they kicked his door in. Does it seem retarded to anyone else that you would announce your intentions, wait for them to answer the door and then be shocked at a poor reaction when you bust it in?

Oh, and apparently this was all over him growing pot.

I think that condemns him more. He knew the police were coming in and fired on them when they did.

It's not like he was asleep with the AK in his hands and wildly and blindly fired at shadows half asleep. As soon as they broke it down he opened fire on them. Sounds to me like he was aware of what he was doing.

Not arguing your assertion but how dumb does that make the police? It's like me walking up to someone, announcing that I plan to punch them in the face and then being shocked when they punch me.

Sending a shoutout to Boondocksaint27. Hopefully you weren't involved in this awful incident. My thoughts are with you.

I think knocking on the door and announcing that it's the police in order to serve a warrant is perfectly reasonable. If he wasn't suspect of a violent crime then knocking on the door is the way it should be done in my opinion.

Knowing it was the police and shooting at them absolutely condemns him, in my opinion. I just think that (if what he was doing was growing pot) his actions should have been legal and that in no way was his crime serious enough to justify the outcome that took place.

Agreed. What confuses me is that if the intent was to knock, announce your presence and then wait for him to answer the door why then kick it it in at all?

Ahh, I see. Well, I suppose if there is no answer within a reasonable amount of time and you're pretty sure the suspect is in there you probably want to get in before all the evidence can be destroyed.

Or before he has a chance to arm himself and fortify his position...

2 officers conditions upgraded and one released. Two in critical including the guy I know. Shot in the stomach and fragments in the head

If by BEST you mean the armpit of Utah, then yes I agree with you. Actually more like the smelly ball sack of Utah.

When were you last in Ogden, and what do you base your opinion on?

This?
