Should Cody spend time in the G LEAGUE

Should Cody Williams get sent down to the Stars for a stint?

Cody missed a lot of shots tonight and just didn't look as sharp or as engaged as last game. Not sure why.

I hope he's not on pot.

Jesus ****ing Christ!!!!

2 of 14 in the G-League?

Im trying my best to not be negative, but that is a massive red flag.

Collier went 15/18.

I'm not too disappointed by Cody's box score from last night. He's not going to turn in to a scorer overnight. Rebounds/Assists/Blocks/Steals are a better indication for me on how he is doing down there. I want to see him more active and involved. 9 Reb / 3 ast / 2 BS is ok. I would like to see those stats consistently high and have a few outlier games like he had a few games ago with 5 steals.

AST - 1.7
STL - 1.2
BLK - 2.0
TOV - 2.3
PF - 3.1

Shooting: 44/38/75

Here's the GLEAGUE stats website that I have filtered for 20 and under year olds for comparison with Cody:

It's not really surprising or disappointing that his 3pt% hasn't improved in the GLeague. You can't get easier shots than wide open like he was getting in the NBA.

It's extremely surprising and disappointing that his 2pt% is so low. I just calculated and he is shooting 36% from 2.

Yeah, Cody was never a good shooter before, but I don't know how he ****ed up his form this bad over the summer.

The form was already really bad, but it became way more stiff and off-balance between summer league and the NBA.

This is Cody's shot chart. Obviously, efficiency is not great. But maybe more concerning is just how few shots he's gotten at the rim compared to floater range shots. He doesn't make it all the way to the rim. To be fair, he does get fouled quite a bit so that will lessen his true rim attempts. I still maintain that he's very good when he gets to the rim but struggles mightily to get to the rim.

This is pretty fantastic and pretty much tells the story. To go with what you said he is one of the top FTA guys in the GLeague (under 21 years old).

Like a broken record, and nothing he will fix immediately, he needs to get much stronger.

10% of his shots coming at the rim is a wild number. Matas and Holland were closer to 40% of their shots coming at the rim last year.

He does need to get stronger, but I think his handle also needs to improve drastically. He's slow to begin with and he doesn't have any wiggle or craft with his dribble. I kinda think the most obvious problem (he's skinny) makes us overlook additional problems.

He does dribble off his feet or others' feet way too often.

I don't think his handle is terrible for his length/age, but maybe I'm seeing what I want to.

He got all the way to the rim in college. Now against NBA defenders collapsing on him, that's become rare. He is throwing up 8 - 10-ft floaters and runners, and it's not working. All his scoring is basically at the rim, or on open looks from 3. He's been extremely inefficient from mid-range.
