Should we flirt with Dwayne Wade in free agency?

What if we show a lot of interest in Wade. Wouldn't that send a message to the league that we are cool and could be a destination for a star? Sorta prop up our league wide stature and give us some swag? If other players see that Wade would play for us, then it must be cool.

Wade would probably be willing to play along because he is in some sorta of stand off with the Heat over his contract. He wants to get paid, they don't want to, but they don't want to lose him either.

He probably doesn't want to come here, but we can both get what we want. He gets paid from Miami because they chicken out and pay him, and we get our swag.

Win/Win


Make a lot of the noise really public, like we are offering a huge contract.
 
I've always stated that we needed to get our name out as pursuing big name free agents. It's obvious we won't land them, but I hated the KOC philosophy of while everyone loads up on the steak at the buffet, we're in a hurry shoveling macaroni and cheese on our plate while everyone fights for meat. Though there's a lot of realism in not pursuing big names, there's also a lot of defeatism as well. We should be pursuing these guys publicly just for league/player PR. Sure, everyone will laugh at us at first. But keep doing it and eventually people will start to take you serious. Just ask the LGBT community.
 
I agree with the premise, but not this player. I think that the Jazz should inquire about every single legitimate max player regardless of how interested they may, or may not, be. At some point, the Jazz will prove that they're serious about spending to win and having one of the best front offices and coaching staffs in the league. It only takes one "Reggie White" type of acquisition to completely change a team's fortunes.
 
I always find it amusing that fans assume that if they don't hear about it, it must not be happening. Also, if you were a player and you heard the Raptors were pursuing Wade, would that really make you think maybe the Raptors would be cool? Most of these guys have a short list of teams they'd really like to play for, and a few maybes. After that, it's mostly about money and sometimes winning situation or opportunity for playing time. Utah's best chance of ever attracting any decent FAs is to prove that they can be legit contenders. We're not at that point this offseason, but I think our chances improve greatly next year.
 
Flirt? No. Jazz should through themselves at Wade. Lebron and pierce. Find out if any of them are interested.
 
No to Wade. Would do nothing for us at all.
 
Should I flirt with Jessica Alba? I know she's a little older than the young starlets of today, but I think she's still amazing, even at 34.

That's a great idea. If you show a lot of interest that will send a message to the other starlets that you're cool. Give you some swag so to speak.

Well, women like the bad boys, so I'm sure I could get some jail time - or at least publicity out of being arrested for stalking. On second thought, I once applied for a job with her company and never got a call back. So to **** with her!
 
It just isn't realistic. Yeah he'd be a great fit, but Wade is a household NBA name. the chances of him leaving Miami to go to such a small market in Utah isn't feasible.
 
Wade will stay in Miami. Otherwise, he should go to Memphis. They need a shooting guard to take them over the top and he could certainly add a lot to the team as a championship veteran.
 
I hate this idea but I love this thread title. I fully believe we should play some footsie with Wade, maybe wear a little too much eyeliner, and talk about all the wild things we do in cabo after too many skinny margaritas.
