Well Al is bad in pick & roll defense, I get that.

But he's not all bad. He's 12th in the NBA in blocks per game last year. You can put him there in the middle and he'll help you guard that rim. That's not just any "bum".

He's also going to start running the floor, setting picks, reacting quicker than a koala hopped up on eucalyptus. Just wait and see....HE'S BIG, YO!
 
Well only time will tell who KOC and Lindsey will keep after this season. Having seen him bringing in shooters like Mo Williams and Foye and how we love to play that inside/out game, my money is he'll keep Jefferson (with the hope that pairing him with Favors would negate some of that defensive deficiency).

That's just my opinion, only time will tell.
 
Millsap would be awesome as a 6th man, but that means he still has to take minutes from someone, and I don't see Jeffercrap being the player they take it from while he is under contract. I imagine that they will Corbin will do something similar to last season where everyone gets about 20-25 minutes a game and then go from there. Jazz would be dumb to trade Millsap - he's the glue guy and a fan favorite. Jeffercrap will have high trade value and with an expiring contract, I am definitely hoping the Jazz ship him out before the deadline.

Since we are speaking hypothetically, can you name a legit starting-caliber player who wouldn't make an awesome sixth man?

A lot of players. I think a good 6th man has to be fairly versatile. Lamar Odom, Harden, and Ginobili all stick out to me as being versatile.
 
Is milsap worth 12 mil a year? I don't think he is, but that will be what he is looking for. I still think both he and Jeff have enough flaws to warrant trading both out for some assets to help speed our organic growth along.

Point taken. I was just referring to the fact that in the Jazz's situation, Millsap is a logical choice as the 6th man for the team.

What's wrong with having Favors come off the bench and be "the man" of the second team? When he does that, you move him to a starting role. The guy has never been the focal point of the offense. Let him cut his teeth against second stringers. When that gets too easy, move him into the starting role.

Because Favors can be a defensive force alongside a weaker Jefferson. And Derrick can get his points off putbacks and work on the P&R with Mo.

Millsap can then be "the man" on the 2nd unit. Kanter isn't a scorer. Neither are Watson or Tinsley. Millsap and whoever doesn't start among Hayward, Burks and Marvin Williams, would be the 2 main options on offense for the subs.

I think Al will be better. However he will never be at the level we want him to be, the level he needs to be at.

GVC is doing solid work in here, so i don't have too much to say on that portion of the thread other than "yeah, what he said."

as far as paul's asking price... i'm not 100% sure it will take 12M to get him, but even if it does, i would SOOOOO rather pay paul 12M than jefferson 15M.
