Because Favors can be a defensive force alongside a weaker Jefferson. And Derrick can get his points off putbacks and work on the P&R with Mo.
Millsap can then be "the man" on the 2nd unit. Kanter isn't a scorer. Neither are Watson or Tinsley. Millsap and whoever doesn't start among Hayward, Burks and Marvin Williams, would be the 2 main options on offense for the subs.
I am talking 15-20 games. Not long at all. Let Favors come in, shoulder the offense (which he wouldn't be doing with Jefferson by his side). He gets experience being the go-to guy, Al and Millsap still get to start, Al shows off his stuff and 15 games into the season Al is traded and Favors is ready to do his thing.
If you put Al and Favors together, Al runs the offense, Favors does dirty work and then Al is traded and now we have to deal with 15-20 games of Favors learning how to be the "man." This solves that problem, allows Millsap and Jeff to start, and the Jazz transition smoothly from Al to Beast Mode.
