Sign Joachim Noah as a FA and draft either Korkmaz or Luwawu...would that be kicka$$ good

Big-man targets available

Luckily for the Jazz, there appear to be several realistic big-man targets available this summer who could come in to help the roster right away.

Coming off back-to-back All-Star appearances in 2013 and 2014, Joakim Noah had a disappointing 2014-15 season before this past year’s injury-riddled campaign. However, before the injuries, Noah was one of the league’s premier defensive big men, and a devastating passer. Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey has often spoken glowingly about Noah’s game, and could have a realistic shot to land him this summer.

Joakim Noah would be ideal playing with Gobert,Favors, and Lyles.......He would be an ultimate respected Veteran and teach Gobert and Favors how to approach winng and getting prepared for games. Also he's a fantastic passer, him and Lyles would really have the ball moving and actually doing something with it.

I like Korkmaz,I think he's going to be a fantastic scorer. He's near 6'8,same as Hood. This trends towards what Jazz seem to be wanting....long ,lean, fast athletic players on the wing.

Exum comes back strong ,add a Joakim Noah and draft a natural scorer like Korkmaz ...I'd call it kicka$$ good for the Jazz offseason

I like the idea... Just don't know if he would come cheap enough. He's still gonna demand a decent salary and he would have to be willing to take a lesser role. Would be a good move though.

I think it would be a fine move, but I think we are going to be somewhat disappointed with our backup 5 spot. If we sign Noah, we are either playing him less than 20 minutes per game, or we are taking a lot of minutes from Trey Lyles. If you think Rudy and Derrick play 32 MPG each, then that leaves another 32 minutes. It's probably a good idea to have Trey Lyles play 25 minutes a game, so that does not leave much for Noah.

I don't think Noah signs with the jazz for 7 minutes a game.

Noah is good teammate, vet voice, locker-room guy. I also think he would be a good fit in the offense since he is a good passer.

If not Noah then I agree with the article, go after Zaza. The biggest issue that I see is getting either Noah or Zaza to take a 4th big role.

Yep. That is why I think we are going to be slightly disappointed with the back up 5 spot. Which is fine, in my opinion. We should plan on Lyles being the 3rd big and getting the bulk of backup minutes. Withey is a perfect 5th big.

Jazz probably have the biggest chance to make a big leap in Wins next year and doing it by a league contending best defense. This is Noah's strong suit ,defense and rebounding.Noah probably isn't seeking top $$'s but probably wants to play on a serious contender.Playing with Gobert and Favors would be a pretty big incentive.I'm sure he saw Favors and Gobert missed alot of games this year.Jazz probably missed out on the playoffs because of this.
Lyles has great upside ,but if the Jazz become serious contenders capable of 2nd round at least then I'd rather bank on Noah playing in rotation with Gobert ,and Favors.

Seems like Hibbert ineffectiveness is more a function of the league leaving him behind.

Both of them were viewed so much differently just a few years ago.
Defensive centers are still very sought after.

We can afford to pay Noah for next season and probably the season after that. So offer him a 20 mil one year deal. He'll get paid and get a chance to be a part of winning team. In two years we will be paying Gobert and Hayward. In 3 years the only players at old salary scale will be Burks, Trey Lyles and our new draft picks.

As for minutes, I see Gobert playing 28 minutes a game as a positive. Noah can play 20 as the backup center. This will also keep Favors minutes down around 28-30 a game. Lyles will just have learn to be effective in 20 minutes night. And given our injury histories-so one is going to be hurt. So at teams we will need everyone to step up.

In another thread I advocated going after Biyombo in a similar vein; but Noah would fill our teams veteran leadership void.

I also see a Lyles/Noah combo as being very effective off the bench together.

I read somewhere that Noah was not happy with his demotion to the bench. I like Noah's toughness and his passing. I think he may be the best passing big in the NBA. He was putting up some big assist numbers before he got hurt. However, if the Jazz got Noah then the bench would be Mack, Burk,SF draft pick/FA, Lyles and Noah. Now that would be a very good bench.

Noah would bring some much needed fire to the team. Korkmaz or Luwawu would be two nice wing prospects. Both bring different
things we need to the table.

I'm all for this scenario.

I'm sure there are some that will flame me for this but a very underrated player that could be picked up cheap and be willing to play a 4th big is James Johnson of Toronto.

He's a strong defender who can defend back up bigs and he's fast enough to defend wings (especially the Durants and LaBrons of the NBA).
