Silver: No Evidence Any NBA Team Has Ever Lost Single Game On Purpose

And thats why their tank was executed with so much perfection...they ¨almost¨ won a lot of games but didn't. Against SA they used 7 players. No shame haha.
GS fans were pretty nervous during the 4th quarter.
Wouldn't it be ironic if Burke turns out to be a better player than Barnes. Couldn't have moved up for Trey without having the extra pick.

Karma is a bitch

Although it's unlikely, I still want them to miss the playoffs so we get another lottery pick. They would have sacrificed two picks for nothing. That would be sweet (as a basketball fan it sucks not watching curry in the playoffs but my jazz will always be first)

The statement is similar to a statement of former Turkish Prime Minster and former President Suleyman Demirel: "You can't make me say that Right Wingers murdered a single man." (for civil unrest in Turkey during 70's)

if coaches really want to tank then they can tank. and they don't even have to order players to tank. put the chucker in, put the tired players in, put 2 bad defensive match ups in, put a guy who is having a bad day in, and make sure you use plenty of rookies and struggling players. and zone when you have to go man. and go man when you need to go zone. and scream at the ref and maybe a T or two.

also most importantly let egos clash.

chuck daly in dream team practice comes to mind.

And then say you were just developing the players.

If you own an NBA team, you love these ideas. Look at what is about to happen:

Because of tanking, Boston and LA are about to get Wiggins and Parker. That makes money for everyone.

If you up the age limit, then the players you draft are more ready, and have less risk than some 18/19 year old. That makes money for everyone.

Nothing "bad" has happened here. The only bad thing is is that Utah isn't willing to tank harder.

Doesn't the CBA have an opt-out year in 2017 or 2018?

...I for one, would LOVE to see another NBA lockout! But this time.....lock out till the owners get EVERYTHING they want.....from lower salaries, to stringent drug testing, to major suspensions for breeding illegitimate children without child support....oh, and one other....scrapping every jailhouse tat off your body with a broken beer bottle!

Golden State finished the last 20 games with a record of 3-17. Sounds kind of like a typical Gordon Hayward night (sorry, couldn't resist).

I think my favorite game during that stretch was GS at Minny. TWolves were somehow able to lose a 16 point halftime lead by only scoring 33 in the 2nd half. I remembering watching a good portion of that one and laughing at how bad both teams looked as they tried to out-tank each other.

How do you know they weren't just playing poorly? It happens, all the time. Seriously, if you're a coach, how do you get your players (who are all playing for contracts either now or down the road) to purposively tank during games? I think you are seeing what you want to see here. With very rare exceptions, I am highly skeptical that coaches intentionally lose games and even more skeptical that players are complicit in it.

You put a bunch of rookies in the starting lineup and keep healthy players out.

So, let me get this straight. You take a bunch of rookies who are playing for their basketball futures, you put them in the SL, and then tell them to tank, and they are all in? The quote I'm referring to seems to imply to me that players were intentionally playing poorly.

I'm still skeptical of the tanking narrative being promoted here. I'm not skeptical that GMs intentionally try create bad teams; but I am highly skeptical that coaches and players intentionally try to lose games, while the game is going on.

You don't have to tell them to tank, they are trying to win, but they are just that bad. The main tank part is sitting healthy players.

I wonder what he would accept as evidence? Only a signed notarized affidavit from the owner affirming their intent to tank? Maybe a video of the coach telling the players that tanking is the game plan?

Evidence of what? That GMs purposively built teams to lose, or that teams purposively lost individual games, or something else?

If the former, it seems pretty clear that this does occur, if that latter, then I think the burden of proof is on you to show that it does happen rather than on Silver to show that it doesn't.

Just to be clear, which of these, or some other, is Silver referring to, and which are you referring to?
