I'm single and loving it.



Who else here is single?!?!?!

Count me in.

I'm 56 years old and never been married. Came within a few weeks of a wedding once and turned down other offers.

So why am I single? So many reasons. Do I regret it? Yes and no. Such a complicated topic.

I'm probably in the same boat actually in terms of do I regret it - yes and no. Yes lots of freedom and free time to do whatever I like anytime, no attachment, no worries. No in terms of sometimes you need somebody to talk to about stuff, etc...


But overall I would say by being single I've had lots of time to reflect on who I am as a person, learn to be more independent and not always thinking I can rely on someone, etc. I've been single for a good 2-3 years now and it's been a pretty good journey so far.

You often complain about wanting to find someone. How are you loving it, exactly?

Also, I will forever be single. It's wonderful.

More recently after that hellish love-finding trip in Thailand I've been on somewhat of a soul searching journey within myself to try and find out who I really am on the inside and be content with being on my own, being by myself, doing things that fulfils me individually such as spending time meditating, contemplating and I've done lots of reading and a bit of personal writing as well. It's actually been really rewarding and refreshing being content instead of always chasing after someone.

The worst part about being single - always being asked why you are single. I'm never sure what they expect in a 30 second answer - I hate men? I am unlovable? I'm too picky? I'm too emotionally unavailable? I have fumbled over answers my entire life. Still haven't come up with a good answer yet.
