I have had a number of questions about the "moderating" system on this board in the past, but have never really received any answers. Not that I'm entitled to them--that's a matter of opinion, I suppose--but I don't feel like I'm overstepping any bounds if I ask.

As a prelude, I am going to criticize Kicky. Partly because it helps set the scene, and partly because I just enjoy doing it. Let me amelioriate some of what follows by noting, at the outset, that Kicky seems to have gotten progressively better with time, as far as some of these criticisms go.

My personal view has been that Kicky has traditionally projected one of the most blustering, bullying, pretentious and smug personalities on this board. I know others who whole-heartedly agree. He likes to, or at least used to like to, act as though his opinions are sancrosanct gospel and that it is utterly blasphemous, not to mention completely stupid, to even dare question him.

He likes to provoke, and seeks to provoke, so that he can have an opportunity to display what he perceives as his unparalled brillance for all to see, and to humilate those who dare oppose him. No matter how soundly he may be out-debated, he will inevitably claim complete victory and express his total disdain for anyone who has disputed his omniscience.

Such an approach is bound, even designed, to create "adversaries," who Kicky then believes he must thereafter belittle and demean at every opportunity. Then he becomes a moderator.

As such, he is presumably asked to "vote" on which posters are to be admonished, expelled, etc. As I understand it, in law, judges are ethically required to "recuse" themselves from judging any case where they have even the appearance of a personal interest in the outcome. I wonder if the Jazzfanz admins ever feel so compelled.

I don't know exactly who I am addressing this to. Whether it's Kicky himself (and I welcome his response), Jason, other mods, or just board members in general who may want to share their perceptions and opinions. Just sumthin I felt like typin, I guess.

A little riddle, eh?: What's the difference between a catfish and a lawyer?

Answer: One is a scum-sucking bottom-feeder, and the other is a fish.

+1 internet. Although, I must say kicky has been a lot better on the new board than he has in the past.

I'll ignore most of the obvious trolling aspects of this thread and answer the only substantive question.

As other moderators and former moderators who served along with me can confirm, I have regularly abstained from voting in all instances where a) it was one of my posts that had been reported or b) I felt that I had gotten involved in a debate to the extent that I could not vote impartially or where my voting would appear to present a conflict of interest.

If at any time you feel that a moderator is unfair please feel free to take it up with an administrator.

Congratulations on your self-imposed restraint there, eh, Kicky? Looks like maybe you have matured-up a little.

From the "ethics" portion of the California State Bar exam:

After an lengthy interview with a wealthy client, you find, after he has left, that his wallet, containing $10,000, is stuck between the cushions of the chair he was sitting in.

Ethical question: Do you tell your partners, and split the booty with them, or simply pocket the cash?

I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree Aint. Even if I spotted every part of your original post I don't there's an implication that I would be corrupt. But thanks for flattering me.

Everyone knows the rule about finders keepers.

Also, 10k in a wallet? How would that thing even fold with that much paper stuffed inside? You'd have to transfer it to your own safe out of practical necessity.

Of all the people on this board, I think I know the mods the best -- that is, I've probably dealt with and dished out more **** than anyone else. That being said, I have nothing but respect for the lot of them. OneBrow and Tink (I would say bigb, but we're RL friends and that would be gay) are by far the fairest bunch of tools I've come across. Even Bronco70 and Brooklyn, who hate anything associated with me, are fair and balanced. If you had to suffer through the days of JazzTraveler and JG (I love you guys, but wow...) then you would appreciate how great it is to have mods that aren't complete hacks.

I'd still rather have Vinylone, but whatever.

1. Not really
2. Occasionally, though I wouldn't necessarily use the term "bully"
3. Getting warmer
4. Agreed

However, it's often you come across as such when you're edumacated and dealing with the masses.

Well, Bum, if you want Vinny, that's my cue to once again start-up my campaign for a mod position. I would be far more better than that hack, I figure. My platform (to be fleshed out in the future, but for starters, ya know?):

1. I promise to be the most immoderate moderator in the history of the interent.
2. I will treat all complaints about violations of the rules equally and without any discrimination whatsoever. My response to such complaints will always be: "What rules?"
3. Once in office, I will scheme to become treasurer, and will thereafter kick down to all the homeboys who voted for me.
4. My policy will be: After 14,000 warnings, you will get another warning. As promised in plank number 2, I will issue no warnings, but it's possible that mods I can't control will issue some.
5. I will ask nothing further for my self-sacrifice and dedication to the good of the board beyond the requirement that everyone address me as "His Majesty, the grand imperial wizard."

What's not to like, I ax ya!? Vote early and vote often. Thank you for your support.

That was so unfunny, it was actually awkward.

Congrats on being the first poster with a negative reputation though, that's got to count for something.
