Sadly, yes...he IS that dumb. There's 2+ seasons worth of data to back that up.

It's the same reason the black caps batting on and not enforcing follow-on. They'd since build a lead of 400 runs today. Do they need all those runs to bowl England out? May be not. But it's good to have them just in case.

I would agree if risk/reward was there but it's simply not. Way too much to lose in the process.
