Small Forwards for the Jazz

The Jazz don't currently have a true wing/SF/positionless 6'7" guy whatever you want to call it. Drafting a wing makes the most sense even though BPA is the right attitude. If you have a PG vs a Wing in the same tier, I think the Jazz should go wing.

With the 10th overall pick I would say there are a few options out there and I wanted to explore everyone's opinion on where the SFs rank in this draft for the Jazz and why.

Risacher

Castle
Buzellis

These three would require a trade.

Cody Williams
Holland
Tijdane Salaun
Dalton

Wait for the late first round and grab a wing late?

Pacome
Dunn

What's your order? Who do you desperatly trade up for if any? Who are you thrilled fall to #10? How do they rank in tiers?

Not interested in what it would take to move to #1 for Risacher. I don't see it.

I would be willing to give up Walker Kessler + 29 to move up and grab Castle or Buzelis. I wouldn't give up a 2025 pick to do so unless it is a late first then sure. Say the worst of Cavs or Minny in the 2025 draft + #10 for the #5 pick? Sounds like a steal.

If Williams, Holland, Tijdane, and Dalton are all available at #10, I know I am NOT taking Dalton. Why would we want a 23 year old shooter who doesn't play 2 way basketball? Sounds like the perfect fit for the Spurs because you put shooting next to the alien. Doesn't make sense for me with Utah.

Tidjane is intriguing because of the upside. He is young and upside is what we need.

Holland keeps getting overlooked according to a ton of experts. There are multiple analysts who have him as their #1 prospect of this draft. He was coming in to the season. He didn't shoot well but his form is good. If he shot better then he is likely at the very top of this draft. He projects as a two way player. His upside is close to Tidjane if we believe in the shot. Holland cancelled the workout with the Jazz. The Jazz oddly draft the guy that didn't work out. He feels like he could end up here.

Cody Williams projects as a two way player too but is more defenisve minded than Holland. Jaden McDaniels 2? Not bad.

My list goes:

1. Castle
2. Buzellis
3. Risacher (but not worth trading up for)
4a. Holland
4b. Williams
4c. Tidjane (essentially I am happy with any of those three)

10. Pacome (fine with him so long as we get a great player with the first pick)
17. Dalton (Tyler Hero empty calories - if we end up with Dalton, I hope we trade him for something playoff worthy)

Melvin Ajinca :p
Nikola Djurisic ?
Pelle Larsson
Justin Edwards?

For a reasonable price, I'd love to trade up for Castle.

At 10, I'm good with Cody, Carter, Topic, Salaun or Holland. Really don't want Dilly or Knecht.

Then I want to package our lower picks to get to 22ish and take Dunn. Would also be happy with Kolek.

Nothing very original here, I know. But going on the record for posterity...

Only Holland and Salaun fit the body type you seem to be looking for in terms of prospects in our range (Williams is freakishly skinny).

Scheierman is a true SF and should be in any discussion at 29 and 32, even trade up discussion in the 18-22 range. he has good size, not great length, but he plays big. probably the best rebounding wing in the draft.

"They don’t have a single natural small forward at the top or in the middle of their roster"
Ya I would say that based on minutes per game that Brice hasn't been top or middle of the roster

Problem with Brice is he just isn’t a good defender or passer. SFs are often bringing some connectivity or switchability. Brice feels like he could eat up minutes there as a placeholder but probably isn’t his best role.

He’s not a good defender but I also don’t think he’s terrible he gives effort, also where do you get he’s not a good passer. Hes a willing passer for sure he’s got natural handles and has playmaking chops

I didn’t say he was hopeless or even bad, I said he wasn’t good (cuz he wasn’t).

Ideally some attributes come pre-installed but they weren’t with Brice.

Wasserman has Holland at #1 on his draft board which seems wild to me. Anyways what are the chances he can improve his shot to someone that hits his threes at at least to 35%? Or is it completely broken like Humpty Dumpty after his great fall and couldn’t be put together again.
