Smallville

I had never watched Smallville as I really didn't want to watch a teeny-bopper Clark Kent struggle with his surging hormones in high school. Fast forward 9 years.

My daughter's friend is really into the show and has every season on DVD. My daughter started watching them 3 weeks ago and dammit, they are addictive. They are not that bad either. They do a pretty good job with Clark's character showing the struggles of hiding one's true identity from even your closest friends.

I do have a few complaints and it can be cheesy at times but it is fun and the overall story line stays consistent with the comics with a few exceptions (my biggest complaints). The writers actually have read and studied Superman lore and have incorporated a lot of what has taken place in the comics over the years into the series. They've even had guest appearances by Margot Kidder, Christopher Reeves and Terence Stamp. Annette O'Toole who plays Lana Lang in the movies plays Martha Kent in Smallville.

In any case, 2011 is the final season of the series and I'm trying to get caught up on all past 9 seasons. I'm a little ashamed to admit I'm looking forward to it and can't wait.

I used to idolize superboy and superman. They got ALL the hot Babes, like Lana Lang and Lois Lane, ya know?

Personally, I always preferred Betty and Veronica.

Although if you want to find a superhero worthy of idolatry based solely upon his prowess with the ladies you should be looking into Battle Pope.

A sneak peek/trailer video shown at this year's Comic Con gives a brief glimpse of the Superman suit. That little clip was interesting...it showed someone opening a wooden box and peering into it. It was the Brandon Routh-style suit btw (darker colors, slightly altered, rounded "S").

Should be an interesting season.

I actually thought I was going to have a fun back and forth with aint, but after trying to decipher "Mista Natzchro" for a good 15-20 seconds I decided it wasn't worth it.

Hmmm... it looks like Martha Kent gives the suit to Clark in the season 9 finale. Clark opens the box and it cuts to a close up of his eyes. You can see the red and yellow S emblem reflected in his eyes but it doesn't show what exactly is in the box. In season 10 Lois finds the box and opens it. That's who is shown looking at the folded suit in the Comic Con preview.

This show is still going on?

The final season starts in Sept I think? Season 10.

That said, the star of Smallville, Tom Welling, is now an executive producer of the show and I guess he's been hinting that they'll continue the series under a different name or even possibly make a feature movie using the characters that Smallville has created.

Well, Marcus, long about time for this here thread to git hijacked so we can talk about *my* hero, Mizta Natzchro, for a spell, I figure, eh?:

"Mr. Natural is a mystic guru who spouts aphorisms on the evils of the modern world and the salvation to be found in mysticism and natural living. He has renounced the material world and lives off anything he can get in exchange for his nuggets of wisdom...Crumb's bearded guru is too unapologetic to be called a con man. Despite his renunciation of the material world, he's an unrepentant sybarite...Part wise man, part conman, Mr. Natural has strange, magical powers and possesses cosmic insight; but he is also moody, cynical, self-pitying, and suffers from various strange sexual obsessions...

He returns to America during the Beat era of the 1960s, and is drawn to the San Francisco Bay area by nubile girls and people willing to listen and pay for his improvisational spirituality. He exhorts his disciples to eat only his own line of "Mr. Natural Brand Foods", and to listen to his broadcasts on WZAP Radio. He is endlessly being accosted by would-be disciples seeking the truth... his patience often wears thin and he takes sadistic pleasure in making them feel like idiots...When asked "What is the meaning of life", he responded, "it don't mean ****."

While he is typically very cool and in control, he sometimes ends up in humiliating predicaments like getting tossed in jail for child molestation or languishing for years in a mental institution. In recent years he has entered into a tempestuous relationship with Devil Girl...In the '70s, a pornographic film was made featuring Mr. Natural.

So, there ya have it, then, eh? To just kinda sum it all up, and all....

Mizta Natzchro, he ROCKS, eh!?
