What's new

So I'm at this trucking terminal...

I'm sure its no different than anywhere else, but tons of people in Utah are like the ones OP described.

Hate it when people say the Jazz suck but their only reasoning is the win/loss record and nothing to do with management or the way the franchise is being built for the future.

Also, almost every person on earth is way retarded. Seriously.

I'm telling you man, with this new roster with the new season, there are gonna be some major changes about how people see the Jazz.

This commentator got a hint:

i worked for fanzz for two years and i would ask kids all the time who there favorite basketball team was, i would bet less than a third would say there favorite jazz team was the jazz. i found that its a generation thing. people under 16 liked the teams with superstars so there favorite teams were the Heat, Bulls, and Thunder. If they were hispanic i found that a lot of them liked the lakers (no racism here just an honest assessment.)

If we had traded for james harden then you would have seen all those bandwagon superstar fans jump back the jazz wagon.

it's a flaw in the NBA, all fans out there just like the superstar teams. you'll find it in any place without a legit superstar. It's really quite sad. i see the NFL turning this way too slowly, but it will never fall as hard as the NBA because one guy can lead a team where as the NFL you still need a whole team concept.

Gosh darn when I saw the title of the threat I thought the terminal was next to a Best Buy.

This basically sums up how I feel on the subject.

What I hate is casual fans that don't know they're casual fans (which is like 90% of them).

If only a third of Utahn's favorite jazz team is the jazz, this franchise is screwed.

The association pushes it. There is a clear discrimination against the teams that don't have a player who puts up exaggerated numbers or has tricks up his sleeve. You can even sense this sharp boredom in the voice of the commentator of the game summaries. The mind is like there are these players, and then there are the rest. I like the moments in the games when those "rest" make the stars remember they are all players and anything can happen.

Tons of Lakers fans. The problem is that Utah is directly conected to Vegas and LA by the I-15 interstate. So people from Nevada and California move here by the droves. Many of them are Lakers and Raiders fans.

Being a die hard Jazz and Broncos fan it leads to some interesting arguements. Got into a heated exchange with a dude at the grocery store once lol. Loser was wearing a Raiders jersey.

I think you're from Memphis but for the people in Salt Lake it must be frustrating as hell to live with all those LA fans.

Don't worry, anytime I see someone flying laker flags or stickers on their car with Utah plates I give 'em a super nasty look so that they know what's up.

The other day I saw a mid 90's rusted out Aerostar Minivan with two Lakers stickers on each side of the back window and a byu sticker in the middle of the back window.

So perfect.

This is how the Lakers fans are like. Extremely arrogant out of ignorance:

I'm not sure you can call anyone rocking Raiders gear a bandwagon fan.

As far as younger people go, sometimes the bandwagon is explained because certain teams are on national TV constantly. I grew up a Cowboys fan for this reason. Loved me some Danny White, Tony Dorsett, and Too Tall Jones. Teams like the Seahawks and Buccaneers were never televised nationally.

Coincidentally being televised almost every week will help BYU, even though they backed into independence rather than joining a big time conference.

Raiders fan feel it is cool to be a Raiders fan as, from my perspective, have a gnag feel to it. t he colors and the symbolism of death they associate with it. I see alot of wannabe tough guys and wannabe gangster as being raiders fans becuase they think it makes them look tough.

Real fans yes. Fake fans no. Like the douche that tried to act tough with me in Lins. My brother almost put him thru the meat counter lol.

Most BYU alumni HATE the Lakers, BTW. Probably the result of a mixed marriage.

Lins, awesome! Reminds me that the next time we go to St. George we need to pick up some honey butter at Lins, for my sopapillas.
