What's new

So Jarrett Jack will be a free agent......

Good job watching the GS/SA game last night, Bean. I'm really proud of you.

When did Jarret Jack all of sudden become a stud? Is he a really really late boomer? I don't get it. He has been passed around the league many times.

He is 29, so I don't think I would over pay for him. But wouldn't mind picking up.

He's a great fit for that system. Curry off ball takes a lot of pressure.

No he's not, the 11-12 season with the Hornets was his best year.

Hey Beanclown, how bout you look at the stats?

His %'s are all better, his assist per 48 minutes are up, all his per 48 minute stats are up. And he is doing it all on a winning team. This is clearly his best year and if you can't see that, you are truly an idiot.

Jack was my target for last summer. We got Mo instead.

We're gonna have a lot of Mediocre PG options to choose from this summer.

Mo Williams
Jarret Jack
Jose Calderon
Devin Harris
Beno Udrih

Are the likely suspects as they are unrestricted, and frankly those guys probably won't demand a big or long contract. And I suspect the Jazz will go cheap/short in the PG market this summer.

There are a couple more interesting names in the restricted area.

Brandon Jennings
Tyreke Evans
Jeff Teague

I would imagine you'd be looking at a long and big contract to sign any of those guys. I don't think the Jazz will make such an investment in those kind of players. I suspect they'll get paid elsewhere.

If Mo has a strong finish to the year and brings some leadership to the team in the playoffs, I fully expect it'll be him if he's willing to take a short term deal. If he's got a better offer somewhere else I think the Jazz just work down the list until they find someone willing to work on a short term contract. I won't be terribly surprised to see someone like Udrih as the starter next year.

What the Jazz do at point guard has a lot to do with how much they pay Mo. I hope that he realizes that A: he has peaked and is now on the downhill side of his career and B: being a mentor can be a rich and fulfilling experience.

If he was willing to take a downscaling contract starting at around 6 and descending to 4ish over five years, I'd likely take it. I doubt we get a starting quality point guard in this draft at around the 20th pick, so more likely it'll be a backup type player, so Mo could even start the whole time anyway, and if the player pans out and becomes a real talent, by the time he's ready Mo's contract will be reasonable for a backup.

Oh, is Burks our future primary backup or his he the third point that only plays point in case of injury or foul trouble?
