So question to all the utah fans

I'm thinking it would be hard to support an NFL team in a small market like SLC especially since the games are almost exclusively on Sunday.

No question ****** NFL team. Baseball is only fun to play. Baseball is sooooo boring to watch. In fact I would give anything to have Baseball get their own channel so ESPN could ban baseball highlights and talk.

Sunday is the busiest games for the Jazz. Maybe its the lack of games on sunday but the NFL is only 8 or so games a year. They would sell out no problemo.

Baseball is what they used before they had anasthesia for sugery. Watch one inning you are fast asleep. After 3 or 4, catatoblibblah blah bli blahblah blah...

Translation: I'm an average Utahn. Or is that Utahan? Or Utean? Anyway, my ADD, ADHD, or whatever it is we all have these days, requires constant action with little talking and no commercial breaks before and after every kickoff, punt, field goal, 2nd down, or anytime John Madden needs to fart. That baseball stuff? Nah, it takes too much of my attention. Ooh look, there's a pink wall over there with flowers and buzzards. How weird. Flowers and buzzards just don't go together...

And unlike Trout, I like the fact that it's only once a week. It makes it more of an event. For those of you who have never tailgated at an NFL game, put it on your bucket list. Many times, it's just as fun as the game itself. Yes, baseball does play many more games and it's usually nicer weather, but in all honesty, who cares about a day game in the middle of the week during August when it's 100+ outside?

Interpretation: I'm not a fan of anything but partying. Make it big, no ginormous! We can drink beer in a parking lot other than the local gas station for once! Hell yeah! Party on Wayne.

Translation: What was this about? Oh yeah, sports and stuff. I'd like to announce that I've been punched in the head a lot. A LOT! If you ain't got punchin or kickin or tacklin or something goin on then I ain't gonna rout for it. See, where I'm from, if strategy comes into play then we just rough em up and laugh about it at the bar later on. You really wanna watch Deep Blue take on that weird Russian dude? Nah, didn't think you were up to thinking today. Sooooooooooooo, uhhhhhhheeehhhhhhhh, ooooooooooooooooooooo boring bro.

in person I'd much rather be at a baseball game than a football game, even taking tailgate parties into account (esp. in Chicago where at least half the football games can be in un-BEAR-ably cold weather)

Baseball is much easier to follow in person since it moves at a slower pace and you don't really need to see things "up close" to follow the action. Plus it's easier to be social and have fun and still pay attention to the action. That's not so easy at football games.

On television, definitely football. Living room tailgate parties are tons of fun too! Baseball might be half-way OK if there were a channel that showed the Reader's Digest Condensed version of the games.

and nocolo, why does it matter that the NFL team is crappy and the MLB team is good? any particular reason? I'd love to know!

Because he thought it would help even the playing field, since NFL is most peoples first choice. If we had a playoff contending baseball team year in and year out, it would make it a harder choice for some.

I am not necessarily saying you are incorrect, but that is completely subjective.

I would say my opinion is only somewhat subjective, not completely. Obviously, if you enjoy baseball more than football, you'll think it's the better product. However, I think there is something to be said about how football has long surpassed baseball in terms of popularity. I don't think it can be denied that people clamour for college and NFL football much more than they do for MLB. The MLB offseason seems so short. The gap between the ending of the World Series and pitchers and catchers reporting for Spring Training seems to go by in a nanosecond. When the NFL season comes to an end, it's as if everybody is asking: "Already"?

Wow, not only are you coming off as extremely arrogant, you're way off base. For the record, I don't like to party. At least, not in the sense that you're implying. I hate beer, hardly ever drink alcohol (maybe once or twice a year) and while I enjoy tailgating, I'm certainly more of a fan of the actual game. I like tailgating for the food, and the chance to get all amped up for the upcoming game with fellow fans. I find it to be a really good time and if you're unable to process this type of reasoning than I am sorry, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Did I ask you? NO. The entire point is that I'd like to hear ncoloradojazz explain it in his own words.

Baseball is much more popular than football. Unless, of course, you want to ignore 90% of the world's population.

Are you really serious with this? The entire point of the thread was what would we want to see IN UTAH. Right now, football is hands down the most popular sport in our country and probably even more so in this state. That's what is relevant to the topic.

By your logic, RSL is the most important pro franchise in Utah due to Soccer's overall global appeal. Keep reaching pal.

Why would you want a bad NFL team? No way in hell do I want the Clippers of the NFL here. College Football is more entertaining anyways and we have two good programs in town.

A good MLB team would be awesome. If we had a team that could compete it would give us sports fans something to do during the Summer, plus the MLB playoffs are amazing.

I would take a good MLB team over a bad NFL team any day.

salt lake cant support 3 professional teams me thinks. but if they could, drop the bees, or the buzz, or whatever they are called now a days and go for fooot bawll.

Football. You could not pay me to sit through a baseball game unless it was as much as the players in MLB make. Too boring.

I once watched a pitch by pitch replay of a baseball game. It might have been 2-3 innings but still it gave an idea. 5-10 minutes. So how much do baseball players really stand around watching the pitcher play with his balls?
