#SochiProblems XXII Olympic Winter Games

Yeah I have been reading about his. Add to this the problems with different sports itself. Chris White just pulled out of a snowboaridng competition becuase it is unsafe. Several athletes have already been hurt on the course.

Dead stray dogs laying in the street.

It'll be an interesting Olympics for sure.

Isn't this really an IOC problem? Russia has had to spend 50 billion dollars or some absurd amount to prep for the games. Utah's was probably ~ 3.2 Billion in real dollars. That basically tells you that Sochi had no Olympic worthy infrastructure previously. It just seems like a suitable host would be one that only has to build a little on top of what's already there.

I agree that it does point to the IOC making a very poor decision. Was it bribery, incompetence, poor policies/requirements or all the above?

The problem is they didnt actually spend that money on preparing for the Olympics. The money has been embezzled.

This thread is hilarious. There's a guy I work with that went to Russia for the games.

It just so happens, he's a homosexual.

I'm kind of wondering if he's gonna go streaking with a rainbow flag down one of the slopes.

Why the **** would he want to go there? srs?

Not even with the gay part factored in.

Dmitry Kozak, the deputy prime minister responsible for the Olympic preparations, reflected the view held among many Russian officials that some Western visitors are deliberately trying to sabotage Sochi's big debut out of bias against Russia. "We have surveillance video from the hotels that shows people turn on the shower, direct the nozzle at the wall and then leave the room for the whole day," he said. An aide then pulled a reporter away before Mr. Kozak could be questioned further on surveillance in hotel rooms. "We're doing a tour of the media center," the aide said.

Oh geez. Russian Creepers.

I've been hearing that as soon as you land, your phone gets hack and personal information stolen.

There is an article by a CNN reporter that is claiming that exact thing. That his tech data was all hacked before he even got to his hotel.
