Softest team in the NBA

There's a difference between being soft and being injury-prone. Hill, Hayward, Burks, etc. play hard. Unfortunately, they're getting injured/are injured. Favors no doubt wants to play. He plays tough. And Burke drives toward the hoop with reckless abandon. Definitely not soft players.

I agree but by the same token, if a key guy is perpetually out with back strain it might be time for a trade in.

Look I found a group picture of our starters. Minus Gobert.

I like how Hayward called out all the boneheaded fans who were calling the Jazz soft. He seemed pissed -- nice to see the fire.

Hill has missed over a month with sore digits. That's soft.
Hayward hurt a finger missed a month. Soft.
Favors missed like 2 months last year with a bad mattress. Then this year he has i.t band syndrome. That's a combination of being dumb and bad luck.
Burks plays too wild and hurt himself with his style of play. And Paul Pierce hit him dirty. So he decided to have surgery on his ankle 3 months ago to clean it up. I'm not sure but surgury usually takes 6-8 weeks to heal so what's the deal?
Hood misses games all the time with minor injuries. Either he's soft or injury prone and playing thru most of it.
Either way the training staff isn't doing enough to get the guys ready to play. Something has to change or this will continue.

Great analysis.

more from nateboz:

Gobert goes to the 6th man role as the jazz end up starting Faors and Lyles.

Stockton and Malone were straight savages though. They fought through all of the **** they took on the court and played elite basketball into their 40s. Not many in the history of this league can even come close to that type of production. MJ took vacations from the league to preserve his career.

Stockton and Malone probably didn't bitch about pullin hammys like Bozzer. #holdat Today's NBA players *cough Hayward *cough George Hill *cough Burks are just divas compared to Stock and Malone. Could you imagine someone telling John Stockton that he's got to sit out tonight's game? Nah, me neither.

In the defense of players today, team doctors seem to have more pull on if a hurt player plays or not. With that said, can u imagine what Malone might have done if a team doc tried to hold him out for a minor injury? Lol

I'm fine with the team protecting the health of players, especially young ones, if we are not in title contention. There is life beyond this season.

Being injured and resting has nothing to do with being soft or not. It is a team decision along with the player. Long term health is much more important than playing a couple extra games. Teams are much better now than in the past of protecting their assets (the players) and helping get the most out of them. Stockton and Malone would have sat more if they played today because of how the league works and how much more we know about the injuries.
