Solar Eclipse 2017

No, I wouldn't want to battle the crowds for a two minute event. I'm just hoping I get the chance to get out of my office long enough to quickly sideways glance at it (don't have solar glasses). 91% of an eclipse sounds good enough to me.

It will really suck if it is overcast.

I live right in the path of totality, so I'm good. I'll just wake up a little bit early.

My thoughts on the eclipse: neat.

Glad I decided to just step outside for a few minutes rather than take the day off and do some traveling.

Also ignore the info in the OP. I found the true source of the eclipse:

The hype was not warranted.

In a world where it wasn't hyped:

It's amazing this isn't hyped a lot more. The fact that there's this expansive solar system, where both the sun and the moon only occupy such a minuscule part of the actual sky, but they can collide in a rich visual display for us earthlings. It's really quite breathtaking and under appreciated tbpfhwy.

too many clouds passing overhead in my part of Chicago for me to attribute the darkness and slightly cooler temps to the eclipse. I did not have any of the special glasses - - some friends who wore the glasses said they were able to see some of the movement of the moon passing in front of the sun through the cloud cover.

BTW, here's a question - I've always said and heard others say: "ee - CLIPS" with the accent on the second syllable
But on the radio, I heard several commentators say "EE - clips" with the accent on the first syllable.

So how do you say it?

For me it was like night. Pretty amazing being in a totality zone. All of our street and solar lights turned on.

I went to Wyoming to see the eclipse in 100% totality--it was incredible. There was a little burst of pink/purple light radiating from the apex as totality finished; I can't accurately explain it, but it was one of the most breathtaking things I've ever witnessed.

Totality was unreal. I was watching it with a stunning view of the Teton mountain range, animals were going nuts, birds, dogs, horses, skunk and others. It was one of the most amazing things I've experienced.

Without the totality it would have been kind of overhyped though.

Where in Wyoming?

It was seriously so awesome.

I made the trip to Casper and it really was an awe inspiring experience. The totality was much more dramatic than a partial eclipse, it was pretty moving.

Totality would have been awesome, but it was pretty cool with 91% anyway. Had a good time with coworkers, sharing glasses and goofing around. Good day.

Don't think I'll be around for the next one in our neighborhood on August 12, 2045. Totality will be in Salt Lake, Nephi, Mt Pleasant.
