Some Things to Consider-- becoming the 04 Pistons

I said I didn't have point to make, VJ, and was just seekin answers at that point. I try to gather relevant information BEFORE I attempt to make any point, if that's what I ultimately want to do. But the same token, I don't refuse to answer questions when I feel like I have an appropriate response unless and until I know exactly why the other person is asking. Their reason for asking is irrelevant, unless mebbe I'm a criminal who is making up a cover story and want to be extra careful that I don't answer question B in some way that might be inconsistent with the answer I already gave to question A.

I didn't really wanna be rude, with the IQ, thing, VJ, but you showed me no courtesy whatsoever when you undertook to TELL (not even ask) me what my intentions were, so you asked for it, I figure.

what crap are you talking about? I clearly asked you atleast TWICE what your intentions were posting that question in this thread because the relevance, if any, was not obvious. You never bothered to explain. Even one another poster thought you were just trolling around and increasing your post count. Obviously you had your mind made up already on why you were asking that question and you knew what point you were trying to make. But you would'nt bother to explain at that point. So I just left it at that. At that point it was just irrelevent crap that felt like trolling to some of us.

People who don't have the capacity or facility for seeing the implicit relationships between things cannot see relevance, VJ, any more than a blind man can see the sky. Fortunately, the sky is still there, either way.

well its not relevant even now. Pistons and Spain-no relevance at all. Two totally different things. NBA and Olympics. Pistons even ultimately won and Spain lost

Pistons won - Spain lost

This is NBA, that is Olympics

This is best of 7, that is just one-off

Pistons had several individually good NBA players - Spain had just Gasol who was well known

Pistons knew each other for quite some time and practiced months/years together - In Olympics you practice together maybe for weeks

Pistons like any other NBA team have their opponents scouted inside out - Olympics scouting and familiarity with opponents is'nt quite high

.......

and more coming.

Lots of relevance, there eh, Hopper? Mebbe it takes them genius boys to see some relevance. See what I mean?

The Pistons were scrappy, athletic and ridiculously good defenders, for the most part. They disrupted the other team and scored a ton on turn-overs. We need more players who fit this criteria. Thank God we let Boozer go...

This is a repeat of a post I just made in the "reasons to keep Matthews" thread, but it may fit here even better:

Ya just never know, eh? Jerry Sloan went to Chicago in the expansion draft after sitting on the bench for a year in Baltimore. Dick Motta said he knew, very soon thereafter, that he had a "diamond in the rough," who was the best player on the team.

Sloan went on to be an all-star even though he was unathletic and couldn't dribble, jump, or shoot very well. He also made the all-defense team 6 times.

“I don’t have the ability of the men I guard,” Sloan would explain. “So I have to work twice as hard to stay on the floor with them.”

Sloan now has his number retired in Chicago and, Michael Jordan notwithstanding, he is still known there as "Mr. Bull."
