If the Hornets are looking to trade Pick 10 for a young veteran, who are some of the potential targets?

Chad Ford
Darren Collison, Eric Bledsoe, Evan Turner I've heard a lot. Ditto for Paul Millsap of the Jazz.

By the way, I'm told the Blazers are looking at the same group of players at 11 if they decide to trade the pick.

I'd consider Paul for 10/11. At that spot we could take Marshall or move up for Lillard (+10 plus some combination of taking on a less than stellar salary or the GSW pick).

All depends on how much the organization covets Lillard and Marshall.

I'm probably in the minority, but there is no way I trade Millsap just to take Lillard or especially Marshall.

Not crazy about this but Lillard or Marshall are tough to pass up. If we did do this, I'd hope we'd try to squeeze an early 2nd out of one of them as well. And signing a 4th big this summer would be very high on my priority list, as our frontline depth was huge this season and that person could eventually move up to be our 3rd big if we later trade Jefferson. Which we should.

There's a lot of sense in that - not necessarily saying I would, either. It depends on what the organization things of the two PGs. If they feel like one of them is our franchise PG, I say pull the trigger. Absolutely. If not, I wouldn't do it.

Lillard and Marshall are not sure things. They have big question marks. Definitely not worth Millsap.

Nope, I'm there too.
Especially since I don't think Lilliard or Marshall are the answer, but rather an answer for desperation.

clearly there would be other pieces coming and going to such a trade so it is too hard to evaluate yet

This is very true. If it was Millsap straight up for #10 (which works since NOH has cap space), then the Jazz would go from having $4m in cap room to having $12m in cap room and being serious players in the Dragic/Batum/Ilyasova derbies.

I'm guessing though we'd have to take back Ariza too, who has 2 years and $15m in salary. That is less than ideal. However, if we could include Raja and they include Jason Smith then maybe we are back on again.

In either event, this might make re-signing AK47 more likely and I am comfortable with him getting Millsap's minutes.

this.

10/11 is a crap shoot, with as many busts and deep bench players (27.5%) as stars (20-25%, depending on what we call a star). paul has been our best player since the DW trade, you don't trade that away for a CHANCE at somebody who is good enough to start.

the usual powerhouses of the board are pwning this thread. No way in hell I let Millsap go for that pick.

I think it's telling that two of the players listed as trade targets are PGs, ones who don't even start.

Says a lot about the riskiness and just general quality of the players in the Lillard/Marshall/Pjones tier.
