What's new

Sources: Utah has expressed interest in re-acquring Deron Williams

If he sign with the Cavs I blame all the dumb *** fans who booed him every time he came back to play here. Smh.

no clue about that stuff. just seeing a lot of stuff about it on twitter. If he's bought out they could get him on a minimum contract or something right?

They can only pay him the vet minimum. About 1.6 million.

Last year, I was hoping the Jazz would put up some cash to outbid Miami for Joe Johnson. I'd be fine with any of DWill, Bogut or Jones, but I don't want them going to stupid lengths to get it done. If they sign someone, I think they should cut Shelvin Mack.

Thats where he should go. T-Jones is the FA people need to be hoping for... He'll add athleticism at the PF spot.

I have zero interest in Terrance Jones. He's a good player but I have no interest in the contract he will get. He's gonna get paid. We have too many other young guys we need to decide the future of already. Plus it's giving up on Lyles too soon.

I thought you were a dude? sounds like some **** a female would think and say to de-rail a sports convo.

Was the point i intended to make poorly received without "the power of AND"???

Dude????? My point is that we don't have to chose, we can pursue ALL of the options. Get T-Jones and D-Will.

I'm interested in giving Favors a few weeks off to properly heal. Obtaining Jones allows us to do that without slipping in the standings.

Jazz beat writers are saying they dont expect Utah to try and sign D-Will. They might have just wanted to get on the phone with him/his agent to talk about how his interest in signing next season if the Jazz cant keep Hill.

Nah. As much as I'd like to see him come back it is a pretty legitimate question about the supposed "chemistry". Although, do the Jazz even have any with how much time everyone has missed?

Anyway, he can go to a better team for probably the same money and without the baggage. Plus he'll get way more guaranteed playing time there. The Jazz's real target should be Bogut or even Jones I guess. Not hyped about either, but with Favors being backed by Lyles and Diaw... I'll take some insurance.

If he signs with the caves...oops I mean Cavs, watch for fireworks and Boston or Toronto coming out of the east.

Cavs were experiencing internal discord already....adding Dwill is throwing gas on a fire.

The Jazz are so conservative sometimes...it makes me ill. I think there is only an upside to bring Deron on board. FO thinks Deron will destroy team chemistry? Lame.

So you would pay Terrance Jones a good size amount of money risking our ability to re-sign our own players just to avoid slipping in the standings this year? I'd rather build for the long term.

More than anything DL probably just wants to make sure Exum gets minutes. I doubt they are super worried about the chemistry thing, but you kind of only have a 1.5 more years to find out what Exum really is before you have to give him a new contract.

$$ isn't the issue for Jones he'll play for cheap, minutes is what he wants, needs a platform to showcase his talents for this summers free agency.

Could still get minutes. Bench Burks... I know he needs minutes too but we can find those through inevitable injuries that will come

Here is the risk of not acquiring d will now... Hill gets hurt and now we have Exum and Mack going up against CP3 in the playoffs... D will goes to Cleveland or a contender and then doesn't want to leave. Hill walks and now we are left with Exum who has played like 3 good games and had almost zero moments that matter.

If we suck in the playoffs Hayward is less likely to stay... if we are left with Dante Exum as our starting pg next year Hayward is less likely to stay.

I guess I just see the risk of getting the guy now and sitting AB or Exum as less than letting the guy go somewhere else and assuming you have just as good of a shot later.

There is also no one else on the buyout market worth pushing ATM. So we'd have wasted our cap space... again. Just not the way to build a team. Hopefully we sign the guy.

No one is signing Jones to a high dollar multi-year deal at this moment. He'll likely get a 1 year deal. If we shut down Favors for a while, he would step into a starting role on a playoff contender AND pocket more jingle that most anywhere else.
