Australia can't miss in first quarter, takes 30-20 lead thanks mostly to 6 TO by LT. Exum with 1ast,1reb and 1 to.
 
TO's continue to plaque Lithuania ( 13 in a half!) and Australia keeps shooting lights out. This must be the most terrible basketball I have seen form Lithuania in last 10 years or so.. 47-28 after half.

8-0 start of the third quarter puts LT back in the game.
 
Lithuania comes back playing tenacious defense in 3d. 6 pt game after 3d. No Exum in 3d quarter either.
 
So Lithuania unable to comeback despite cutting lead multiple times to 3 pts. 22 TO for FIBA game must be some kind of record though... impressive pressure defense by Australia in first half was the difference. Exum was non factor though... did not play in second half at all. So interesting situation in this group as if LT wins vs Slovenia pt differential will be deciding factor who will end up with 1,2 or 3 place. That if Australia beats Mexico which is not given as Mexico looked pretty good so far as well.

Almost to bad Russia did not get the wild card instead of Finland. Russia-Ukraine game would be very interesting right about now.

Russia did not even submitt application for wild card. Was to expensive for them or whatever...
 
Mexico vs. Australia should be a good game tomorrow.

So Australia win sets up interesting situation in that group. All depends on Slovenia-Lithuania game. ALl of those three teams want to avoid 2 place as it will mean USA in quarterfinals. If Lithuania wins by 9 or more they are first. If they win by 5-8 they are second. If they lose or win by 1-4 they are third. Any bets how that game will end? If Spain would be in that situation you could almost bet on a loss here as they are know to lose on purpose in order to plan their playoff opponents ( last time they lost to Brazil in Olympics to avoid USA until finals and last Eurochampionship they did it again in group stage to get easier road to semifinals) . But with LT I don't know, they just never do things like that.
 
It was amazing that Türkiye held the best 3 point shooter team with over 50% in the tourney at 27% in the 65-64 win. That was the key behind the win with us playing even worse than Aussies.

Slovenia vs USA @ 21:00 GMT+2



Turks need the same perimeter defense alongside a tough inside enforcement.
Lietuva need keep doing whatever they are doing and rely on JV to hold Aşık back.

Slovenia has Dragic bros.
USA is USA.
