What's new

start Fes now !!!

I don't think fes should start, but I think he should be getting MORE minutes. instead of bringing fes in with 30 seconds left in the first quarter like jerry does, bring him with 3 minutes left.

it's very simple if you manage it correctly and sloan is so old and senile he can't seem to do that. he's always been terrible at rotations

Against the Magic, Fes enters the 3q with the Jazz trailing by 17, 71-54. Leaves at 5:48 of the 4th, Jazz tied 80-80. Only 7 minutes and it made a huge difference. So yeah, I could see him getting only 5 minutes to start the game to get the Jazz going better.

The PLAYBOOK article posted in anohter thread starts the video at 54-74 - ends it at about 76-76 (or thereabouts) Playing Fes was not the only factor that changed about that point. I'm not a fan of Fess starting, but he is playing an effective role for the Jazz and would like to see him get more playing time.

This could be the season that Jerry uses more In Game Strategy becuase there appears to be options and they are not so similar. I thought one real benefit of the mid-90's Jazz was that Big Dog and Eisely were poor-mans versions of the two statues. (I don't think Eiesly smiles all all either.) And that situation - along wth the statues being as consistent as statues, made for a good strategy ot have very consistent rotations. Let's see how this year plays out, but Fess is so different (and now useable) that he could be a good in-game strategy option.

One advantage that Fes has over Al and could have been a factor in the offensive showing during his time in game, is that he is more familiar with the playbook and other players. On both night when the Jazz made runs there were many of the old faces on the court. Having more play options and familiarity with each other can make a huge difference.

On defense, Fes is very active and does not like to give up baskets. Because of this he gets into foul trouble (and he is a bit of a spaz until he settles in, getting better however). But again to my point about him knowing the team system and players. This works again on defense, especially in a zone. D will, AK, CJ, Milsap and Fes have seen how many practice games together?

I think Al can be really good on the Jazz, but I dont think he will be entirely comfortable until next season.

Oh some on now.

Fes has a a hell of a lot more to prove to Sloan, before he would ever be able to start over Jefferson or Millsap.

I think maybe you missunderstand the suggestion being made. I don't think anyone is saying that overall, Fes is a better player than the other two. What I am saying is that maybe with a real C like Fes starting and clogging the lane like he does, the Jazz might get off to better starts. The other two would still get a lot more minutes.

Good first post "I know more than Sloan" hack.
