Starting Line-up

btw, I stand pretty firmly with the argument that Hayward's struggles have a lot to do with offensive schematics. You know.... those things that haven't changed very much from the beginning of the year.

You gotta help the younger players.

I think we're long past that at this point. During that losing skid, Burks was one of the only bright spots. If anyone on this team has earned their minutes this season, it's Burks.

With that said, here come the Burks DNPs again... Regardless of how he's played while Bell has been out, he'll either get DNPs or 4-5 minutes per (same as a DNP, imo).

As far as Starting line-ups go, meh, who cares? What will piss me off is if this is the line-up Corbin goes with to close out the game... it seems like whoever starts, gets to close it out, no matter how well anyone is playing at the time.

Prove me wrong Corbin...Prove me wrong.

Like many here, I don't care if Hayward starts or not. I think he actually might be awesome in the second unit. He'd certainly be better than Howard jacking up a million bricks in the offensively underwhelming second unit. However, if Bell's return means Burks no longer gets to play, I'm going to flip the **** out. Just bench CJ's lazy ***.

I think the only reason Corbin thought he could get away with this is because Harris has been playing better lately. If he had not been, I think he would have kept Hayward out there with him so at least somebody could get an assist and attempt to get the team into an offensive set.

Now that Harris has played well for a few games in a row, he must think he can get away with having Bell out there with him. He must also be thinking Bell will be shooting well like he was before he was out. Sorry, not going to happen. It rarely happens that someone comes back and is in synch with the rest of the team right off.

Our second team of Watson, Burks, Hayward, Favors, and Kanter better kill the other teams..... but most likely burks will be left off of the second team so CJ can get some playing time. Maybe now Burks and Evans will become very good friends at the end of the bench. That would suck because they both deserve to play some, and CJ should be our 12th man, with Evans as our 11th for now. I guess that makes Tinsley our 13th?

I agree, Hayward will have a bigger role playing with Favors and Kanter on the floor. I'm really starting to like the idea of trading both Al and Millsap, but not till draft time.

I'm not crazy about Hayward going to the bench, but I would like to see Harris, Burks, Hayward, Favors, and Kanter on the court together, which could happen now sometimes.

I'd consider a rotation of 3 lineups.

1. Start with Harris, Bell, Howard, Millsap, Jefferson.

2. Let Earl , and CJ or Evans get some minutes with the starters.

3. Then let Harris team up with Burks, Hayward, Favors, and Kanter off the bench. The young guys can mesh together, with Harris for additional scoring, and Harris gets a running squad that fits his strengths. I'd like to see this lineup 16-20 minutes a game minimum if Corbin continues to play Favors and Kanter together most of the time.

I will like to see that second unit and how they play together. You will have three great passers on the court in Watson, Hayward and Burks. I think that will help develop them all better, assuming they get enough minutes. I also think this will help haywards confidence. Coming off the bench will give him more of a green light and playing against other 2nd stringers will boost him up a bit then after a trade he is back in the starting lineup, along with Kanter or Favors.

Put a gun to my head, and I don't mind seeing those guys start and the young guys play together... but when it comes to the end of games and the vets are subbed in, that is when it will be infuriating

"Adding Gordon is easy," Watson said. "He's another player who can benefit playing fast and he'll make a lot of plays. He's a playmaker. I'm going to try and make him a scorer — get him in positions where he can score 12 to 15 points coming off the bench. So you have him, Burks, C.J. [Miles] — three guards — that's pretty tough

Earl Watson is my mancrush.

Earl is right about Hayward being a playmaker. Maybe Earl can help Hayward progress by making some plays for him as well. Hope the 2nd unit chemistry isn't thrown off, but Howard does seem to play better when he starts.

Would our 2nd string lineup beat our 1st string lineup in a game?

Harris---Watson-----Even
Bell---Burks----Burks
Howard---Hayward---Even
Millsap---Favors---Favors
Jefferson---Kanter---Even

Our 2nd string lineup has our best defenders on it by far. None of the 5 starters are better at defense than their backups except maybe Howard. Favors and Burks are already better than the guy they are going to be playing behind and Hayward is also better than Bell. I like the lineup of Watson, Burks, Hayward, Favors and Kanter together though. It gives Hayward the chance to touch the ball more and maybe be the offensive punch this lineup needs. I hope these 5 players are starting when the team is obviously out of the playoffs. (which is probably going to happen this week unless they fix their road woes).

Overall benching Hayward in favor of an older and lesser player is disturbing to me. Bell should not be playing more than 10 MPG at this point if he is getting over 20 MPG then Corbin is going to piss me off.
