Starting lineup.

The starting lineup for this team is terrible. They need to make some sort of a change. Either bench Raja for Price/Howard/Miles or bench Jefferson for Fesenko/Elson or both.

They continually fall behind in games and rely on the bench to get them back in it. They show little to no energy to start games and play no defense. They settle for crappy jump shots and don't attack the rim. They finish the game out against the Spurs and get dominated on both ends of the floor.

Jefferson is definitely the weakest link thus far. He would be much better suited for the bench. That way, he could play like he did in Minny, with a bunch of crappy players around him and be the focal point of the offense.

I would like D-Will/CJ/AK/Millsap/Elson starting with Bell and Jefferson off the bench personally. Bell provides defensive toughness and Jefferson provides scoring.

I actually really like this idea. I would rather have Fess in over Elson but Matching Fess with Jefferson is a good option as well. Let Jefferson play PF against Smaller players that he can dominate inside.

Might be a really bad shooting lineup though.

All starters -10 or higher on +/- in this game against the Spurs. 14 points 1st quarter and 14 points in the 4th when it was mostly starters in the game.

That seems spot on. They need to tinker a bit right now. Those comebacks were great, but they also just aided the delay of the inevitable. That unit just isn't very good together.

Really? Blair did not guard Jefferson very much in that game. It was Duncan and Mcdyess pretty much the whole game.

Did you misss those lots of times with the bigs bunched up there fighting for rebounds, that a shorter, not exactly quick, player like Blair would beat Jefferson to the rebound, offensive or defensive, to grab or tap it away. And also McDyess is 6-9 and 36.

I know we love him but that blame also has to be shared with Millsap.

And sorry Greg I just read this thread and I already started whining and posting about this in other threads guess it belonged in here.

I think at this point we have to make a change. Start Fes in place of Jefferson and have Jefferson as our main scoring option off the bench. Also bench Raja, but who do we start at the 2 ahead of him? CJ? Hayward? Price? Our wing situation is hopeless.

Based on the performances so far, I would make a Jefferson / Fes change in the line-up. Fes has deserved to play more mins than he has.I think if Jefferson continues to fail in same aspects of the game or makes litte progress, I would insert Memo (when %100 healthy) into the lineup. Memo's efficiency is highly related to the system and execution, while Jefferson's game has generally been stopping the ball at the post and making a 1-on-1 move. In a perfect world, no way would I put Okur, who is 30+, ahead of Al but BigAl's skillset fits the needs of our 2nd unit and Memo has always been crucial for the Jazz system and actually boxes out.

I totally favor this. Let Al go to work in the 2nd unit, start Fes.

Here's to some Bench Al.

Look at Miles who actually seems to relish being the focus of the Jazz's second unit offense. Pair him and Jefferson's low-post-only play to further strengthen the bench. That will also be addition by subtraction with the starting unit. Also agree that Fes would be the logical token starting center.

We lose to a team who's 10-1 and to OKC and everyone is screaming for lineup changes lol!

The Jazz, who always been one of the BEST rebounding teams in the NBA, have been outrebounded nearly EVERY game so far + they have lost all the home games which were against strong teams of West and currently do not seem to protect the home court. The second unit has produced little to nothing which forces the coach to play Deron/Millsap and sometimes Jefferson 35-40 mins. That's not good.

I am a firm believer in consistency and patience, and I watch same amount of games as you but apparently I see, comprehend the games a lot more different than you. Something has got to change in order for this team to protect their damn home court, not to rely on ill-timed, ill-advised shots of CJ Miles, who seems to be the ONLY player who can bring some scoring off the bench, not to rely on AK's 3s. I do not know whether BigAl can man up and play some defense, or the team can change and start to show some consistency, efficiency in what they try to do. Hopefully they will today. That would be a change, too.

I think we need to take Bell out of the starting line-up, put CJ in, and somehow acquire a real 6th man.

This might not be able to happen until next year. I am a patient person.

If we end up looking like the 09-10 Spurs this year, and can come out of the gates like the 10-11 Spurs next year, we could have a good future. With AK's contract, there is no way this current team was going to be the be-all end-all of this new look Jazz. Hopefully we can resign AK for half the cash and have the leftover money to sign a new buddy for Earl Watson.

The Spurs with their new pieces last year started 9-9 through the first 18.

I think Jefferson might come out midway through first and third quarters and not play the rest of 1st and 3rd Qs while finishing the half and the game on the court. In THis case, Fesenko comes in for BigAl. Fes becomes the sidekick of Millsap on frontcourt and Elson who has the ability to shoot to give some room for 1-on-1s plays with Jefferson for some time. It accounts for an estimated, nearly 36mins per game for Al Jefferson. Another change in the rotation might be done by putting Miles in for either AK or Bell after 2nd official timeouts of 1st and 3rd quarters.
