What's new

State of The Union

Ok, I'm out. Gotta pick up the child. At least he's staying relatively on message so far.

Interested to hear Kennedy.

Ever since I've lived, for years, out of the US, I've always told myself I'd support our president and country (with in reason obviously.) Trump, at times, makes my eyes roll and boils my blood, but I'll be damned if I wish for our pilot to crash.

Just got off a plane and will watch this later tonight. I super dislike Trump, but love my country.

There are plenty that would rather our country crash and burn in their hatred of Trump.

Decent speech with some good solid lines and some very eye rolling ones as well. Had people here locally that challenged anyone to point out one single thing that wasn't worthy of full support. When I pointed out 4 areas within 10 seconds I thought their head was going to explode. It was pretty fun tbh.

His Davos speech was actually pretty good toward the end. I expect him to act presidential and get his points across the best way his speechwriters can manage.

Oof. I couldn't make it through all his demagoguery and turned it off when he started in on the veterans this vets that demagoguery and the camera panned over to a bunch of generals with disgusted looks on their faces.

It's interesting that the SOTU address is typically a way for a president to provide us with a vision and ask for support in passing his policies.

I saw none of that yesterday. I just heard a president tell a lot of stories and seem to allude to nuclear war against North Korea, deporting millions while building a wall, and spending billions of dollars we don't have on infrastructure. Or maybe he didn't mean any of that at all but was alluding to other things.

It's fitting that Trump would do that. Just like in Fire and Fury, he is too stupid to know about policy. He has no ideology other than himself. He's not curious to learn. So yes, he'll tell stories and allude to things like building up our nuclear arsenal and let the rest of us try and figure out what he hopes to accomplish with that.

It's dangerous because the rest of the world might not want to wait to find out if he really means what he says.

Looking to politicians to actually represent their constituents instead of their personal interests, no matter if there is a D or R by their name, is an exercise in futility.
