Everyone, including the Jazz, will give him exactly what he asks for. Zero uncertainty in that. It's more about the pitch the teams provide (winning formula, etc)

I think, surveying the landscape, nothing really offers greener pastures that doesn't have some serious question marks and risks associated with it. I only see Boston as a possibility but I think he's looking to finally rise with a team (as we're doing) rather than roll the dice on "yeah we could be pretty good in a few years" with another team -- he's already gone through that here.

If these dumb asses would just take a pay cut and build a championship... I've never understood why professional athletes worry about maximizing now and then end up taking the vet minimum to hopefully get over the championship hump. They could easily make several million more than the minimum to make up the difference they lost over the years. Manu Ginobili signed for $14,000,000 last offseason. Pau signed for 2 yrs/31mm stupid money. If they take a cut and get a ring then they can feel good enough about their careers to not take a cut for a ring. That is, if they are true competitors.

No, it's a pretty good website. They are definitely connected with agents. They are based in Florida, so they are right by IMG Academy. Well respected, not just a hack who throws out anything to get attention.

In my personal opinion, we need to make a pretty decent sized trade around the draft. We should use Favors, #24, #30, one or two of the 2nd rounders, and one of our firsts from next year. I would even consider trading Hood if the right deal made itself available. What I would target:

- Paul George (worth a shot but probably not happening)
- Jimmy Butler (worth a shot but probably not happening)
- Moving into the lottery (only worth dealing Favors and #24 if we have the perfect target)
- Evan Fournier from Orlando (he's on a long term deal making $17 per year). He would be a better fit long term than somebody like Ingles. He's on a cheaper contract than what Hood will probably get.
- Jabari Parker from the Bucks - they are set to have a $110million roster next season. However, we could trade with them around the draft to take on Parker and a bad contract. You never know...
- D'Angelo Russell from the Lakers - maybe we take back a contract like Deng or Mozgov. Hood, Favors, Diaw and picks maybe get it done. Russell and Exum long term with Hayward and Gobert.
- Rubio if we can get him cheap from Minnesota.
- Mo Harkless - they are miles over the luxury next year. If they trade him before July 1, they will avoid the luxury tax this year which they will definitely be into next year. They would avoid the repeat offender luxury tax so it saves loads of money this year and next. We would only do it if they added in a pick or two.
- Danny Green - you never know, they might actually be in the Chris Paul sweepstakes.

These are definitely all things the Jazz should be looking in to, and I like that you are thinking outside of the box. I doubt (as I'm sure you do as well) that any of these are going to happen, but I would just about kill to get a guy like Fournier in here on his contract. I'm sure there are a few more of these kinds of moves out there that Jazz fans aren't thinking about in their point guard or bust mentality. I just hope the Jazz aggressively go after difference making players at any position. Make a strong team and Gordon will sign. There's nothing else out there that is really a step up.

The Boston media is tough. The Globe has even been really hard on Brady lately about his charitable organizations. A good portion of the media/fans already want to get rid of Isaiah Thomas.

Are you really going to over analyze the exact percentages given? This guy is connected to agents and FO executives. He is a legitimate long-time NBA media member. It's just a word of mouth, temperature of the room kind of thing. I'm sure this gets talked about a lot in NBA circles. It's nothing a source, especially if it's another agent, is going to put his name to. It's probably just a culmination of a lot of different opinions from different people. Like if you polled 10 NBA FO members or agents, 6 of them think Hayward stays, 4 thinks he goes.

contract is guaranteed. ring is not.
 
I wish Hayward would just make a blog post about his desire to stay. I'm quickly becoming an alcoholic waiting for his decision.

I think this is something people say that can get overlooked when you are making a decision. I hope Hayward truly considers how Utah has embraced him and how he will go under a microscope there and even if he is great... he's competing in a championship or nothing environment. Red Sox, Pats, and Celtics (although it's been a little while)... that city has expectations and Hayward is much more likely to disappoint than impress.

He also won't have as much offensive opportunity if IT is retained... we don't have as many offensive mouths to feed.

I agree. His easiest path is to take our max contract. The expectations for him and the franchise are lower here. That's not a shot at our Jazz, but just the truth. If we are looking at 60/40 percentages, I bet 40% of Jazz fans think we won't win a title ever.
