Steve Tyler (Hoopsworld): Jimmer got a commit at 12 from Utah

If its actually true (which I doubt), Utah could be forcing someone else to take Jimmer earlier. It to obvious.

Utah has NEVER made a 100% commitment to any player in my memory. They may have said, "We really like you, and hope that you are there at 12". But they would NOT have said, "We are definitely taking you at 12". Why would they? What's to gain? There's nothing in it for the Jazz if Jimmer doesn't work out for Houston (#14 pick).

Anyway, here's a link for some more info: https://houston.sbnation.com/houston-rockets/2011/6/16/2226974/nba-draft-2011

Even if we pick Knight? Doesn't seem likely, unless they have already decided on Kanter or someone else. And if they did, what if Irving drops? There is no way they gave him a commitment.

What I came to post. If they take Knight or if Irving falls they'd be crazy to take another PG at 12.

Jazz made a commit to CJ Miles when he came out of high school. They were upset when they drafted him in the second round. it was suppose to be a 1st.

They actually made a commit to CJ, IINM. The pick was traded and the Jazz ended up taking Miles in the 2nd round, but they gave him 1st-round money.

Edit: Sorry Xthren, posted before I saw your response. Jazz did a class move in paying Miles extra money due to trading that pick away.

Jimmer has been linked to Sacramento, Utah and Phoenix, who ALL draft before Housrton. Maybe Sacramento gave him a commit. But there's NO WAY he would skip a Utah workout. That would earn him a "son of perdition" card.
