What's new

Stock Picks

WLT went from 13 to 142 when BTU went from 18 to 68 and ACI 12 to 34. What's to miss?

No to your chart question.

Dipped my toes into EWJ today. Wanted DXJ for the currency hedge but it's even longer in the tooth. I think it's finally time to buy Japan; talk to me in 10 years.

I think Japan is going to outperfom China in spades in the coming decade. . .. simply because it is the dominant competitor to an unwelcome new big bully in East Asia/Pacific Rim. Look for Japan once again. . . .like the run-up to WWII, enjoying strong relations with south Asian countries like Viet Nam, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Taiwan. Oh, yeah, they won't have Manchuria this time, but South Korea and Australia will be looking for stronger, and this time voluntary relations. Few people realize that China can never dominate the region on the basis of nationalism or cultural dominance, or military strength. The outlying bordering nations have the same population, and better management. And more freedom.

The fact remains that all these countries have large Chinese populations who don't like the communist bully. And they will be impossible to dominate by central planners. . . .

Pretty messed up in my view, but considering the problems they've had for decades, it almost seems justified to try anything really if they aren't going to restructure completely.

On another note, WLT ended up taking a big juicy coal dump. Good thing it went up 15-20% two or three days after I made that trade like I thought it would and I was able to get out and go with the Call buys strategy. So now when I have to eat those calls at least it's coming from a portion of the profits from that trade and not other money I had.

No, lol. Talking and making money are two different things. I tried to find a play on this for two years but blanked, so all I did was sell my commercial REIT.

Won't touch the short etfs. The payoff sucks ***. I don't get why they're even out there.

I tried to find a high risk mREIT, but a) they're all pretty damn well hedged as far as I can tell (on the long end anyway) b) arbitrage makes the options expensive due to the high dividend %. When you can cover with the dividend payout... You could short them as long as you closed before the ex-div date. I plan on putting in some serious work on them after the inevitable crushing that's been setting up for 3 years.

Now is the time to invest in healthcare stocks, market is absolutely exploding this year. Most Biotech/Pharmaceutical IPO's since 2007. Obamacare is only going to bring the industry more money

I work for inContact (NASDAQ: SAAS). You guys might want to check out how it's done YTD...meaning you might find it interesting.

A McDouble. Nice. What's the story there? It seems like it's been around for awhile but was kind of a dead stock for a decade....then BAM....they bring Lefty Jace on board and it rockets?

I spoke too soon. Analysts didn't like the earnings call yesterday, apparently...
