Streaming root sports?

Is there any alternative in UTAH for us to watch root sports on anything but the big 3, Comcast, Dish and Direct? I'm so ready to get rid of satellite but can't give up live Jazz games.

I'm in the same boat.
I'm not under contract (I have comcast) and would like to cancel but can't miss my jazz games.

Add me to that list as well.

It sounded like Hulu might be coming up with something soon and from my understanding it would include Fox stations as maybe even Universal and I believeRoot is a part of one of those groups. No official word if it will happen though.

Ahh, yes. We are asking ROOT to take our money so we can watch the Jazz. Just let us do it without a cable package but... no. They don't offer it. This is why people steal (and get a VPN).

I'm not bitter.

If I tried to cancel my Dish MrsStoked would cut me. Disney channels save her sanity. Buddha and Hoss are jerks.

I'm not advocating it but anyone know of a good way to stream the games in a non traditional way?

Kodi has lots of apps for it that stream games as well as have every tv show and movie. I use Kodi on my computers and have it on a firestick. I would highly recommend looking into Kodi (formally called XBMC)

I'm paying $1800 a year for nothing I want to watch. I can buy a lot of DVDs for $1800, but I can't find a reasonable substitute for catching Jazz games. Nice to know the players are going to get a huge pay increase, courtesy of dopes like me. But if the Jazz don't show a hell of lot more by Christmas, then I'm going to pull the plug.

What apps do you use through it for streaming games?

I usually use NBA full games app. Sometimes it doesnt work on live games so I end up using Castaway or SportsDevil but those usually dont have high quality streams. By far the best Kodi app is Exodus but it doesnt do live tv, just movies and tv shows.

Never tried Exodus. I hear SALTS is good too. I use Sports Devil usually. But as you said. Quality sucks.

Dude. Anything you watch on Disney you can just get an app for and then stream to your tv with chromecast. For free (other than purchasing the chromecast plug in which is a, one time cost of about $40 iirc)

Check out apps like showbox and cinemabox. I watch Netflix shows, hbo, Showtime, starz, etc etc plus movies that are in theaters (I watched The Revenant before it even came out in theaters).

The only thing you can't watch for free via an app is live sports.

I get basic cable with my HOA fees, which includes Root Sports, so, meh. I think illegal streams are the only other way, sadly.

I don't think so. IIRC Root is part of the Kroenke/Walton empire not the Murdoch empire.

The big one is Disney. They will ultimately decide when cable/satellite dies. When they decide to finally put together an a' la carte Disney package available online goodbye cable, hello neo-cable. We're probably stuck either paying too much or pirating an inferior product.

I have Dish, but I met a guy at a friend's wedding who told me he watched games on Reborn4hdlive.org It sounded amazing. I think it uses the same loophole Ballstream did/does (I'm not sure if ballstream still works, I haven't looked into it since October, and it didn't seem to be accepting new customers back then.)

I guess the theory behind it is that in the Netherlands sporting events are considered public events and public events are able to be rebroadcast to the public for free. So somehow they use that loophole to broadcast games in America. With ballstream I heard it cost $100/year and it included every basketball game (NBA, NCAA, FIBA, etc.) It might be worth looking into Ballstream and Reborn4hdlive. I'm under contract w/ Dish for another year, otherwise I'd look into it.

It sounds like a dream to me. If it is real, please someone let me know :)

We had very good luck with (free) VIP League, but it worked even better using the (free) Puffin browser on the iPad. We'd play it on our iPad and beam it to the big screen via our Apple TV, but I'm sure there are other options for getting it to your TV. We lucked out several times and even got the ROOT feed. There were a few hiccups and times when it didn't work great, but overall we were satisfied with it. We held on to cable for way too long because of this issue, but we are SO GLAD we ditched it. We have Netflix and SlingTV (which is only $20/mo and no contract). Sling has all the other channels we would ever watch anyway, though we still hold out hope they'll add ROOT eventually. But 90% of the time it's Netflix so we're glad Sling is so cheap. They are owned by DISH.

I didn't have cable through my year long moving experience and found some very decent, HD live streams. google reddit live nba streams.
